I'm going to miss the Old Houndstooth, I had some great memories there, I'm sure we all did.

Michigan, I would seriously doubt it will be open in July. It might be open by football season (at least that is what they are shooting for). By the end of July, it will have a completed exterior, but the insides will not be near to being done.

Re: Houndstooth Bar

When did they start construction?
Speaking from memory, but I believe it was just after the end of football season. It probably took them about a month to demolish the old building. If memory serves, they started the new building in January.

Actually, the last night of the old Houndstooth was the night of the National Championship game. The building itself came down weeks later with construction start shortly after that.

Wow! Worlds difference from the old one. Cant wait to get inside there.

From the looks of the fence surrounding the patio, there wont be anymore smuggling of underage girls into the bar. That used to be one of my favorite undergrad past times.

Re: Houndstooth Bar

That is actually kind of depressing. Don't get me wrong it looks nice, just there isn't much left of the Strip as I knew it. But I guess all good things must come to an end to make room for others.....:frown:

Re: Houndstooth Bar

glad to see Tut's pizza is still alive and well :) best Turkey sandwich in Tuscaloosa, not to mention the best pizza. It's been far too long since I was in town

anyone remember the original Houndstooth? When it is was just the very far right side of the original building? There was a BBQ place and a small store in the rest of the building, in fact the store ended up as the "Houndstooth party store" for about a year. I lived in Grace Street apartments right behind it at the time

looks nice. They'll never recapture the old building's 'charm', so to speak. But, I understand they hand to move in a different direction or get the boot.
