Corn, you are correct that the very best teams will be those who do both offense and defense very will, no question. However, if you are going ot pick one, as CMG apparently has, it is foolish to choose offense over defense. Offense relies too much on timing and matchups to be counted on to bail you out every time; sometimes the shots just don't fall. You can bring hard defense every night.
Go back and look at how many times CMG says (after a loss) something like "They shot the ball really well" or "They made their shots tonight". Is it purely coincidental that we have had so many career shooting nights, both individually and team numbers, against us? North Carolina, to use your example, doesn't seem to have that problem. They also have the added advantage of being able to score well, which we can't do either, at least consistently.
