Anyone notice that USC is #25 right now in recruiting? I bet that doesn't hold. PC is a fantastic recruiter.

USC has a bunch of 5 stars looking at them that will most likely take part in the Fred Rouse Recruiting Scheme, then pick USC on signing day.

USC only has 5 commits right now. The fact that they're in the top 25 with that many commits should tell you something about the quality of the guys they're getting. They'll be where they should be on signing day.

Numbers ...

Take it to the bank that BAMA will sign at least 29 . 1-2 leave , 1-2 grades , 2-3 G.S. , 3-4 non-q's . You could say at least 30(Hanrahan-FB) . Learn it , know it , live it .

I certainly think we could sign 29, but a lot of things might factor in to that number being much lower:

1. We can't have attrition in any significant numbers due to the new grade/graduate thing passed by the NCAA.
2. The guys we have after, probably aren't real keen on greyshirting. The only ones I can think of who MIGHT would be Hig or Motley.
3. I've read from an extremely good source that the staff is cutting back on greyshirting.
4. The guys we have and are after look like academic qualifiers. Yes, their might be a surprise or two, but Hutchins only needs a point or two on the ACT and Holifield might not come at all if he can't get the grades right.

My guess will stay in the 26 range.

an Athens paper is reporting that Lionel Mapp was going to commit to Bama yesterday. However, I do not believe he has a firm offer, and haven't thought so for some time. I'd be surprised if the staff took a commitment from him, unless it was a greyshirt.

Scout has it listed that Mapp has an offer from Bama, according to Scout we are the only ones to offer him so far. BTW, he's a OT from Georgia...

do you have any info on Lionel Mapp? This is the first I have heard of him. Thanks.

6'5" 373 lbs. 5.85 forty time.

Could this guy become a run-plugging DT/NG? Outside of this idea, I cannot think of any reason that we would be considering him as an OL (he does not fit the "profile" of the OL that CBC recruits). Just wondering.

like I said, I'd be extremely surprised if it was a firm, full offer. Another rumor said he was likely a sign and place or prep school. I could see us sending him to Hargrave and getting him in a little more manageable shape. I just don't see him being brought in this year with the numbers crunch we have.

I would have fears that athletes that big would have trouble staying injury-free. In high school, there's a lot more "wallow" time than he would be allowed to take in college. I think he needs to lose 40 lbs. right now, something that would take a lot more work than it took for him to get that big.

I thought I heard on the radio this a.m. that TT was set to announce on ESPN Dec 14 and that he was going to enroll in Jan. Did I totally misundertand both of those statements? Is it just a dumb rumor? Just curious if anyone else had heard that.

According to BamaOnline.com...

"And then there's the possibility of graduating in December and enrolling at the school of his choice in January, a scenario that would allow him to participate in spring drills. Doing so, however, would cost the talented athlete his senior baseball season at Nease.

"That's something we're still praying about and trying to decide on," Tebow said. "We haven't made a firm decision on that yet."

As for when he'll commit, Tebow acknowledged the possibility of announcing on ESPN on Dec. 14."

Hope this clears up the rumors. RTR

The Mapp situation is sketchy. He either had an offer or a gray shirt offer or he never actually had an offer. Apparently he wanted to commit to Bama but there was not an offer available.

Word has it, Tebow has set an official to Michigan, I thought Michigan was out of the question..

if you were an 18 year old kid, and had the chance to travel for free, all across the country to watch great football games, wouldn't you? I know that if I had the chance 3 years ago I would!

Im not much older than 18 lol, and I agree, was just wondering if he had any REAL interest in going there..

I hope not. I know at one time he said Michigan was too far away for his parents to watch him play, so if thats the case, I'm hoping that USC would be the same way. Things do change though, you never know.
