Regional jet crashes into Potomac River near Reagan National Airport

January 30, 2025: NTSB briefs the media on the investigation of the January 29 mid-air collision involving a PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 airplane and a Sikorsky H-60 military helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Do you care to explain “if he makes it that long?”

He’s a morbidly obese 78-year old drug addict with high blood pressure doing the most stressful job in the world.

Or who knows, he’s already a lame duck, and the Republican party might decide to dispose of him and line up behind the VP who’s about 1/2 his age.

I'd be willing bet the final report blames Biden and Dems just as Trump said. Because that is the only possible answer now, agree with that buffoon.
Kind of like the disaster that was the Afghanistan withdrawal? Trump had an agreement with the Taliban and we just followed it? It didn’t take long after that freaking debacle for the dems to lob that one out there.

Trump is a drug addict? He’s probably the most highly functioning drug addict in the world if so. I doubt he’ll be disposed of. He’s not a democrat.

Mental health, physical health, 25th amendment and there are a lot of angry nuts out there (on both sides as we have already seen). Even a 3rd impeachment after 2026 with a conviction in Senate is not to far out if he continues his unhinged ways. Were already beginning to face a bizarre presidency where anything goes.

Just a day before a deadly midair collision at Reagan National Airport outside Washington, D.C., employees at the Federal Aviation Administration were sent an offer to resign with eight months' pay.

The union for air traffic controllers recommended to its members that they not accept Tuesday’s offer, because the FAA had not decided which positions would be included in the resignation plan. An official for the Office for Personnel Management, the U.S. government's human resources arm, said Friday that controllers weren't eligible for the resignation plan or subject to the hiring freeze across much of the rest of federal government.

Reason: Understaffed ATC, DEI Are Unlikely Causes of D.C Plane Crash
Excerpt: “The [Washington] Post reports that there were only two controllers in the tower instead of the four that would normally be there at that time. However, current and former air traffic controllers who spoke to Reason said that it is standard for a single controller to be responsible for all local air traffic, including both helicopters and airplanes. Having two separate people in that role "would add a challenge with communications. [You'd] have to communicate with the guy next to you controlling different traffic in the same airspace. That's unsafe," this controller says.”

Whether they are or not, why the hell does it matter? People who latch on to something like this are disgusting.

It obviously matters whatever her identity was to the people not telling us the name of the chopper pilot, who apparently have SOME REASON they don't want us to know who it was. (This sword always cuts two ways, but people only want to view it when they think it favors their viewpoint).

Last night on that bastion of impartiality (CNN), we got this:

"There were three people on the Black Hawk. One of them was a woman. That woman's family is afraid to put her name out there because they know that she will be blamed for this crash, despite there being absolutely NO evidence one way or another."

Well, she WAS the pilot that on the video flew right into a jet, but I'm willing to at least let an investigation ensue and come to (wait for it) non-political conclusions.

But it obviously DOES matter to people who want to hide something out of fear - never mind that her name and everything about her flying record will be included in any NTSB report worth a damn.

So I'm sorry, "why the hell does it matter" to people who are not telling us the name BECAUSE IT MATTERS for some reason(s) simply doesn't cut it. A number of folks on here (including myself) would have a SERIOUS problem if a White House affiliated chopper did this and Trump came out and said, "We're not gonna tell you who the pilot was because the family doesn't want the name out there," the press and most of this board would be livid and screaming "He's covering something up!"

================================

Now - I'm willing to allow for the pilot's family to bury their dead. And maybe this CNN commentator was talking out an orifice. And maybe there's something to one claim I read that they cannot give her name BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT RECOVERED HER BODY. Reasonable.

However..."hey, we're gonna name everyone in the crash EXCEPT this one person" only serves to make it look like somebody has reason to hide something, too.

While I agree the all names should be released, we know what's going to happen. The Trump crowd is going to blame the accident on DEI and drag this woman's name through the mud, long before any cause is made official. Having your dead daughter used as a political pawn would make a horribly tragic outcome even more monstrous.

The implication that simply being a woman or non-white person means you're less competent than a white guy is simply wrong. I bet if I searched a bit, I could come up with more than a few names of white males who were at fault in all manner of incidents. Do only the unqualified make mistakes? (That's not directed at you personally @selmaborntidefan. It's for Trump supporters and others who love to smear those hired while DEI mandates were in place.)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Black Hawk helicopter that collided with a passenger jet in Washington on Wednesday was on a training flight along a route core to a seldom-discussed military mission to evacuate senior officials to safety in the event of an attack on the U.S., officials say.
The military mission, known as "continuity of government" and "continuity of operations," is meant to preserve the ability of the U.S. government to operate.
The three soldiers killed in the collision were part of the 12th Aviation Battalion at Fort Belvoir in Virginia, whose responsibilities in a national crisis include evacuating Pentagon officials.

And we have the pilot name, Rebecca Lobach, 28. In the most predictable outcome ever, supposed mainstream media mouthpieces have suddenly begun to carefully change their stories.

Now a number of them have reverted from the notion she was the pilot to the notion that she was just oneof a three-member crew.

which is true, but it was also true yesterday in this seems quite convenient to put it mildly.

That said, she is only two years older than my son and God rest her soul and comfort her family, and may we do more to comfort her family than to inflict pain upon them.

Sadly, everything is political anymore.

Let me frame it like this:

Male pilots make a whole lot more mistakes than female pilots. Disastrous ones even.

Of course, that’s because there’s a whole lot more male pilots than there are female pilots, too. But yes, what I said is literally true.

Quite correct. Until shown otherwise, I'm going to operate under the assumption that being a good or bad pilot has nothing to do with gender, race, or sexual orientation and that being hired while DEI policies were in place doesn't mean that you weren't highly qualified to do the job.
