The Federal Aviation Administration is looking for recruits with 'severe intellectual' disabilities as it tries to hit woke DEI targets.

The agency is hunting people with psychiatric issues and other mental and physical conditions in its latest diversity drive.

The FAA, which includes jobs such as air traffic controllers, are keen to employ those with hearing and vision impairments, missing limbs, partial and complete paralysis.

Such a broad recruitment is all part of what the FAA term its 'Diversity and Inclusion' hiring plan.
This article is only 2 weeks old, so this is likely a source of people blaming DEI for this. The timing here is pretty oof, but I think everyone (politicians included) need to slow down and see what the investigation findings are.

Queue up the circus music again.

Our adult baby POTUS just blamed the crash on Biden, Obama, DEI. No mention yet on teh gheys.

not shocked, the Helicopter was a blackhawk after all. What about the white hawks that were overlooked in the DEI process?

The pilot of the helicopter was named Ryan O’Hara. Haven’t seen a picture of him but unless DEI included Irish people, don’t think we can blame it there. I did see a picture of one of the others killed and he was white.

I'm pretty sure these hires weren't for the position of air traffic controller. They have around 45,000 employees.

Hegseth described the helicopter crew as “fairly experienced”.

I don’t know how much flight time training is required but his wording just sounds like he is throwing his people under the bus before a full investigation is conducted.

Forgetting about the politics for a while, who in their right mind would think it is a good to carry out training exercises for a military helicopter on the Delaware river, especially the section where it intersects the takeoff and landing approaches from Reagan Airport. I know these helicopter pilots are highly trained but this is just not worth the risk. Can't they do their training over a less populous area.

If it was a training flight, one of the helicopter pilot was likely an instructor pilot with lots of experience. The pilot receiving training may be an experienced pilot who is being checkout in flying the unique procedures required for D.C. airspace. This video is one of the better ones that details some of the challenges the helicopter pilots could have been dealing with.

Probably at 35k or in an airport somewhere
Aviation is my industry. I have my suspicions about what the root cause was here, but I am not going to give voice to them other than to say they are of the mundane variety rather than of the sexy/conspiracy theory/political agenda variety.

Every public or industry figure opining on causes at this point is despicable in direct proportion to the prominence of their podiums. Am I talking about Trump? Am I talking about Mayor Pete and AOC clapping back? Am I talking about industry experts on cable news last night? Well, if the shoe fits...

And without knowing the specifics, you can be assured significant change will happen after this, just as after the Buffalo Colgan Air crash. But just as with that crash's aftermath, look for the families (who have to be among the most sympathetic crash victims you can imagine) and politicians to get involved early and vociferously, so that doesn't mean the change will actually address the root cause...

I've heard this a few different times from different sources.....

The black hawk was flying too high they are restricted to 200’ and this one was at 350’.

One explanation was there's a 200' altitude limit to a certain point as they come down the Potomac....and then they are allowed up to 300'. The point of crash was within' the 200' section.

Just sharing what I heard. There are probably dozens of scenarios and we won't know what the cause was for a little while so just have to wait and see what turns up.

The pilot they have identified from the Blackhawk helicopter is the stepson of a now deceased member of my church choir who was my ex-wife’s best friend 25 years ago.

that woman lost her second husband to a blown tire that caused a fatal crash to her husband on 82 between Northport and Columbus, Mississippi in 2006.

my brother, the news producer, is finding how decrepit and disgusting society at large is with the emails and phone calls. They are getting at the television station today.

i’m a little numb, but I’ll return in a day or two.
