Regional jet crashes into Potomac River near Reagan National Airport

We will solve this problem promptly…
As this part of your post I’m guessing wasn’t sarcastic, let me say, perhaps, but I’m skeptical. Congress acted after the Buffalo Colgan Air crash without actually addressing or solving for the root cause…

Trump either lied in his news conference yesterday (imagine that) or was tragically uninformed (imagine that). The FAA 'DEI' policies he was apparently complaining about yesterday were started during Obama, left totally intact for four years while trump was president, same for Biden, and not on trumps list of things to overturn. He again tried to politicize a tragedy for his benefit.

If Trump had common since then it should have told him to not make this into a political fight and just focus on the tragedy. But our fat idiot in charge has to turn everything into a fight like a bully on the playground. He’s a disgusting person.

Plus, if staffing may be an issue at air traffic controllers then it’s a great thing that Trump has put a freeze on hiring.

Anyway. I know it’s hard to not jump to conclusions but I follow a number of aviation subreddits and many are leaning towards an error made by the helicopter pilots.

I also learned that all non combat military fights are categorized as training flights so, I don’t think we need to focus on that word so much. It doesn’t mean the pilot was inexperienced or still learning how to fly, it just means it wasn’t a combat flight.

Yeah, people are focusing on 'training flight' and that's just a general characterization of normal flights. I daily have 'training flights' of Warthogs over my house coming and going to Martin State Airport from the Guard unit stationed there.

Trump steamrolls every principle of aviation safety in wild news conference

How can anyone respect this guy? He takes absolutely no responsibility for anything, insists on placing blame and scoring political points in the most tragic of situations (and will tell any lie to do so), and has zero empathy for anyone other than himself.
I don’t care what other politicians have done. Anyone that behaves in this manner is not remotely suited to be a leader of anything, much less the President of the United States. The fact that otherwise rational and intelligent people choose to excuse away and/or overlook these comments and actions is mystifying.

I guess the Trump cult can find no real fault in anything this guy does. If he placed a national order for Kool-Aid, those people would be first in line.

Buckle up. Its going to be a long 4 years, if he makes it that long.

We should wait until all the facts come in before pointing fingers at the ATC. That said the standards had been lowered in previous administrations. There have been reports of drinking/sleeping on the job.
Interesting quote:
" Yet the conditions for many controllers are far from ideal. A nationwide staffing shortage — caused by years of employee turnover and tight budgets, among other factors — has forced many controllers to work six-day weeks and 10-hour days. "

I wonder which politicians are always trying to cut the budget and reduce taxes without considering the effects?

One of my favorite understandings of aviation (that absolutely should be applied to our automobile transportation system too) is that every reported incident is fully investigated with changes that should/must (maybe someone more in the know can discuss) be implemented.

There are no "accidents" that you can just walk away from and ignore the cause/effect like we do with car crashes so often. With that said, we all must wait until the investigation is mature before jumping to conclusions. And certainly blaming a hiring practice like DEI simply cannot be blamed without a strong direct cause and effect connections. Sorry Mr. Trump, you're not only disastrously early in assuming a cause, you're probably disastrously wrong too and will be shown so when the accident report finally comes out.

As an independent advisory board, NTSB investigates incidents that meet a certain threshold, and recommends, but has no authority to legislate or regulate...

Kids, all of them. Unbelievable.

There's also a rumor circling about the copter pilot being trans but sources are very iffy.
Whether they are or not, why the hell does it matter? People who latch on to something like this are disgusting.

Social media runs rampant with “they were this” claims after every tragedy and it almost always turns out to be false so, I have serious doubts about these fear mongering “rumors”.

This has become modus operandi for Trump supporters. False information is posted and spreads like wildfire. When the inevitable correction comes out, the damage is already done.

I'd be willing bet the final report blames Biden and Dems just as Trump said. Because that is the only possible answer now, agree with that buffoon.

You are correct, it would have nothing to do with it. As it turns out, they named her, and happily for her, she wasn't on board at all.
