I hear these estimates and I believe that they are based on Ukrainian sources. The Ukrainians have a vested interest in over-estimating Russian losses and underestimating their own.
I hope the Ukrainian estimated are spot on, but I would not be surprised to hear they are substantial overestimates.

That warhead explosion looked like white phosphorous. Here is Tom Cooper's latest, in even more detail than usual. The long video at the beginning is all in Ukrainian. I hope Tidewater will tell us what the gist is...

All I got out of that was that a guy whose nom de guerre was Matador knocked out Russian BMP1 in Severodonetsk. The BMP1 is the original 1970s version of an Armored Personnel Carrier, armed with a 73mm smoothbore cannon. The BMP2 replaced the 73mm cannon with a 25mm chain gun. Matador was, it seems the guy carrying the MLAW in the video.

There will be a NATO summit next week in Madrid. I expect some significant changes to come out of that summit.
Based on the Tom Cooper updates, it reads as though this war has entered a stupid phase where if the UKRs just had the weapons they could end this conflict and drive the Russians out. Russia has an endless supply of outdated low grade weapons and cannon fodder conscripts who are told to just shoot at anything that moves and if its over 1 story high bomb it to smithereens.
UKR has the edge in spirit, training, and fighting prowess. Just like in Charlie Wilson's War, just give them weapons to shoot down the helicopters...

It seems the Russians have the numbers to throw at the Ukrainians while the Ukrainians have the will and the way. Russians will win this if it continues for too long.
I haven't noticed one of these for a while. The 35,000 troops doesn't jive with the 55,000 mentioned in the article that the British Inteligence had reported. It's still a staggering loss.
