Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

And this, from ShaggyBevo...the ol 'we coulda had Saban if....' Has begun:

No what it really sounds like is Mack had decided to retire but wanted to announce it himself, Chip and a couple others leaked the news, Mack got mad and then changed his mind. Saban was ready to come to Texas, but when Mack decided to stay Saban then pulled back and signed his contract extension at Bama, thus saying %#^* you to Texas. So Chip is to blame for another year of Mack Brown *^%#*ball.

You can say $@& you chip all you want. But if the employee is deciding when and how he leaves, Patterson's nothing more than a Dodds re-run.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Not to rain on anyone's parade but just remember what JessN said a few days ago: if they keep Mack Brown that is BAD for us and increases the possibility Mack quits next year and Saban bolts if we aren't in it.

So here's my challenge to ALL of us - do whatever you can to let the Sabans know you appreciate them. Remember that 100,000 turnout at A-day we talked about? Why not boost it a bit and let's try to do it? I asked about A-day already, I'll have to drive 600 miles but I'm already planning to go. I might even go to the Sugar Bowl since I'll have a place to stay for free.

I'm challenging ALL of us to do what we can and show our love and support for the Sabans.
I'm cool with all of that, but what this entire saga has me believing is that Saban isn't going anywhere until he retires from Bama. The man is going to be the coach at UA until HE is ready to hang it up. JMHO.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

IMO right now is a time to relax and even celebrate that the best football coach in America is at the University of Alabama. But soon... depending on what ultimately happens in Texas... our very good friends at auburn and lsu might have a storm a brewin'. Like I posted a couple of times in the threads that were discontinued - Texas ain't worried about paying buyouts and if they are bent on ousting Brown it is going to get real interesting. They sure don't want to be the next Notre Dame and settle for the #5 guy on the list. Anyway...right now all can say is Roll Tide!
I think they are fools if they do not go after Harbaugh. I would at least make him tell me no. Wonder where Lester Miles ranks on their list?

Bobby Burton@BobbyBurton2475m
BREAKING: Source tells me that Mack Brown, following mtg w school prez and AD, will remain coach of the Longhorns.

Something don't add up right... how weird both news broke within minutes of each other... I guess the whole thing was true to some point.
I haven't seen this reported anywhere else and based on the last few days, we know how reliable "sources" can be. I wonder if there might still be a possibility that Brown could be fired and replaced this year.

Wow...Mack Brown is hanging in there like a hair in a biscuit! They could fire the guy and he'll probably still show back up in his office, ready to go. Bless his heart....:D

If they waiting for someone still playing, he could still get the boot when that person is available: Harbaugh, Fisher, etc

If Colt hadn't gotten hurt none of this would ever have happened.

And next year's predictions can return to: (A) 12+ wins for Bama, and (B) 0-8 wins for Texas.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Let me rant a bit.

THIS RIGHT HERE is what we who live in Texas have been trying to tell everybody. These folks have mouths bigger than their brains and their wallets combined. This follows the same old pattern:

1) We got money, let's go get so and so.

2) Tell the whole world so and so is coming and nobody can stop it - helps to insult so and so's employer

3) Tell the whole world you have two "secret sources" that have verified that so and so is coming. Pull the old double dog dare. Heck, offer to bet money on it.

4) When the train starts to go off the track, insist that this is all part of the plan.

5) When so and so ditches you, hire who's left.

6) After hiring number six on the list, pat yourself on the back and tell everyone else you had them fooled and that so and so #1 was only a smokescreen.

These people need to change the name of the fallacy called tautology to Texas-ology.

Mack Brown is about like Dorn in Major League II, when Dorn gets on base by getting hit by a pitch, then manager puts in a pinch runner but Dorn refuses to leave the base. Now there are two runners on first. LOL

I'm just glad this dilemma over, and hope we keep Saban as long as he wants to coach.
