Sen. John Fetterman is the best Democratic candidate for 2028, IMHO.....

An effective Republican would absolutely shred Fetterman as an unabashed leftist, regardless of his theatrics.

And he can't win the Democratic nomination because he doesn't hate Israel enough.

Time to look elsewhere for a savior.

Like who, though? I’m looking at the bench and I just don’t see anyone with less baggage than Dallas International. IMO, the Dems only real hope is that Trump’s administration implodes in spectacular fashion, allowing them to run practically anybody and still win.

This is still in the cards at this point. Fetterman is a Repblican's idea of someone that would make a good Democratic canidate. Most hardcore Democrats won't vote for him due to his percieved coziness with Trump and Musk. To answer your question, I have no idea who is better and that is what a lot of people are peeved about right now. Limping Biden along for so long then having no real primary then inserting Kamala means the party lost an entire cycle of being able to kick the tires on possible presidental canidates.

Ok, so wait a minute, because this is part of my problem with Fetterman (or more precisely, his alleged reputation as a truth teller).

A sad cavalcade of self owns and unhinged petulance. It only makes Trump look more presidential and restrained. We’re becoming the metaphorical car alarms that nobody pays attention to—and it may not be the winning message.

Okay......was Fetterman there?
And......was he clapping for the cancer kid or was he sitting on his hands?
Was he doing anything ANY differently?

Because if he WAS and DID, you'd think I'd be hearing, "John Fetterman was the only Democrat who."

but I haven't heard that.

Anyone know?

I keep telling folks to remember that "I ain't just Trump." Democrats are EVERY BIT AS TRIBAL as Republicans, witness their throwing Sinema overboard.

And now....

Sen. Fetterman must resign | Opinion - pennlive.com

Yes, it's the old, "If you don't vote down the line the way WE tell you, we will primary you." I mean, that's not what they SAID, but it's what they MEAN.

If Fetterman does not represent his STATE well, we have this thing called an election to get rid of him. He's not there for Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump, so can we have a lot less of this My Cousin Vinny schtick ("everything that guy said is.....")? I'm not even a Fetterman fan but "resign because we don't like a few things you did" is ludicrous.

Fetterman has as much chance of getting the Democratic nomination as I do.

Well, we have been told that, in order to enter the Oval Office, you have to wear a suit. :D

I'd prefer they wear racing suits with patches of all the corporations that contributed to the campaign and are thus owed a "favor."
I love this. Yes, it's an old joke and I'm sure Jesse Ventura stole it, too, but it was big in the 90s when NASCAR was. "I want to see them wear patches like the NASCAR drivers so I know who paid for them."

Is Pete Buttigieg too smart and well spoken to be a candidate?
No.

But if Pete wasn't a celebrity on the fact of his sexuality, literally nobody with a brain would have said in 2020, "This guy ought to run for President." The population of South Bend when he was mayor was around 100K. Alaska's 2008 population was 7x that and I'm told that wasn't enough "experience" for Sarah Palin to be considered.

How many other mayors of towns of 100K people get to move to the front of the line?

I'm not arguing he's dumb, he clearly isn't. But the notion he ever had the first shred of relevant experience to be President in the first place is laughable but nobody wanted to be on the receiving end of "the only reason you think he shouldn't run is because he's gay."

And for the record, neither did Donald Trump. It's an embarrassment that we hired a multiple times failed business person on the basis he knew about business.

Agree 100% with Selma. He is a smart guy but being mayor of a relatively small town with one major business making it well known isn’t really a qualification for president. Should Walt Maddox run for president? He’s probably a smart guy and his political experience is the same as Pete’s.

He couldn't even win the governorship much less be in the stratosphere of running for the presidency.

He lost the governor’s race because he had an D by his name. He does much better against Memaw as a Republican.
Don't disagree. I voted for him. But, still, I don't think he would've won in the primary if he were a Republican.
