Should Tim Tebow be allowed to play against LSU?

Tebow's NFL Career could be anywhere from 3 to 12 years.
If he gets hit again in the same way, it could be nothing.....

Risk VS Reward.........I don't see it. If UF is really an elite team, they should have the ability to compete without running the risk of getting their QB severely injured.

And to take it one step further.......why put a Defense in the position of having to think about it before they tackle him.......it's not fair to put another team in a position where they run the risk of severely hurting the kid.

That is something I've not heard mentioned. What would that do to a kid who injured Tebow simply because he made a tackle? You know it would bother him.

absolutely if he is cleared by a doctor.

I couldn't see him not playing because something may happen in the future when all you have is right now anyway. That is of course he is cleared to play.

lsu had to have help from the refs to manage 20 points against georgia, who has one of the most porous defenses in the sec. lsu struggled and should have actually lost against miss state. i see no reason to play tebow. if florida can get 14 points without him, they win. lsu won't be able to move the ball very much against florida's defense.

just my 2 cents, but what do i know. lsu is using more smoke and mirrors to win than auburn is.

Should he? No. His health should be the top concern. I am no doctor, but if he had headaches a couple of days later, something aint right.
Will he? He is such a competitor that he will do whatever he can to get on that field and play. if it is left up to him he will be on the field. Hopefully if he is on the field he is 100% and not feeling any side effects of the concussion.
I admire his determination and desire to compete and win. But I would hate to see such an upstanding young man suffer for the rest of his life if he is not 100% and was to take a couple of hard hits again.

What you said...:iagree:

if he does play, here's one interesting thing to watch for, particularly because of the controversial way the lsu-ga game ended:

Will Tebow draw multiple "celebration" penalties, hurting his team (and keeping lsu in the game)? No one in the SEC "draws more attention to himself" with the fist pumps, screaming and yelling, and yanking his helmet off than Tebow. It was brought up by Ray Melick today on the radio and I have to agree with him. By the way the (idotic) rule reads, drawing attention to yourself is a big no-no. Tebow wrote the book on drawing attention to himself. The guy knows no modesty. He's a hipocrite, kind of like one of those contractors who puts one of those christian fish symbols on the back of his truck, so that when he gets finished ripping you a new rear end, you'll have to forgive him.

We all know that if Tim has he way, he will play!

I hope the Docs will have some say in what does happen.....

Now, if only Urban Meyer doesn't impose his will and think of himself before he does the future and health of Tim.........

What a shame it would be to have another concussion and possibly lose him for the rest of the year..............if he comes back too quickly.:BigA:

The refs have been chastised and I don't think they will be as flag happy as they have in the past. JMO

Probably shouldn't play.

Interesting comments by Dr. Robert Cantu, a Boston University professor of clinical neurology.

Two nuggets in there:

* Tebow isn't working out or in the film sessions. This means that he is out.
* Brantley doesn't have his head on straight: "You might have heard more than I have," Brantley said. "Of course I would like to know, just to get my head in the right place." Shocked at that statement.

The answer is not no but HELL no.

he had a grade 3 concussion, whether he "technically" lost consciousness or not (and he did lose consciousness, no matter what Urban liar says)...

STANDARD protocol for such a concussion is 4-8 weeks of NON contact. That is with all of the BEST cognitive tests remaining normal compared to baseline and with NO physical symptoms.

LSU game would be a sad story were the kid to get hit again so soon. The brain is still swollen and VERY susceptible to injury even from the most routine hit, and the way TT runs, he would be hit on the crown every play from scrimmage.

Playing him ANYTIME in the near future is malpractice and lunacy.

If Tebow isn't practicing by Wednesday, I don't expect to see him play on Saturday. They can't just declare him ready to go on Saturday morning and find out during the game that he ain't ready for running and hitting yet.

Well this is where Urban gets to earn his paycheck. If he's smart he'll show his team he has enough confidence in them to win without TT.

I have a feeling he's going to blow a golden opportunity. We'll see.

Meyer's in quite a predicament.

If Tebow doesn't play and Florida loses, the team's confidence in itself will take a beating.

If Tebow does play, plays poorly and Florida loses, Meyer gets blamed for playing him too soon and not letting the team see what they're capable of without him.

If Tebow is reinjured... It's a disaster at best and an absolute tragedy at worst.

The only way Meyer comes out of this predicament with his butt intact is if Tebow sits and Florida wins.

Looks like it's time for the mighty gators to dig deep and see what they're really made of.

I think they are very capable of winning without Tim. They just don't know it yet.

They just said in cfl that he was still unable to read. Thats just too risky I love football but it is still just a game.
