I don't think that any amount of staff changes can save his job. Why would any assistant coaches come to Bama knowing that Shula might only have a year?
Heaven forbid that Shula actually stays but I think the writing is on the wall and Shula is finished.

I remember reading somewhere,(help me if I'm wrong), that while head coach Daddy Don never fired an assistant. Am I wrong on that?
The proposed changes seem very weak in my view. Re-arranging chairs on a ship thats going down! Hope I am wrong.
Are the mod's and admin's hearing this from their sources? If this is all Shula is going to do then fire the lot of them and get someone in there that has a plan.

Pearman was a graduate assistant at Alabama for two years, and then served as coach of the offensive tackles from 1991 to 1996. He coached the defensive tackles and special teams in 1997.

Well, basically the same thing happened at UGA and Kines was there too. Wayne Mcduffie was instrumental in supporting Ray for the HC job.
Several years down the road Ray Goff was told to let Wayne McDuffie go and possibly some of the other offensive staff. Ray stubbornly refused. Dooley told him one more time a couple weeks later and Ray still refused out of loyalty to his friend and mentor.
It cost Ray and everbody on his staff their jobs to protect Wayne McDuffie.
Within a year or so Wayne McDuffie committed suicide.
Kudos to MM for taking his time and working through the situation with patience, professionalism, and class.
However imo at this point,

Shula is unwilling to make obvious needed coaching changes for the good of the team and the University of Alabama, whether out of personal loyalty, personal stubborness, or lack of HC ability to make needed & tough leadership decisions (i.e., Ray Goff),
THEN
MM needs to step forward and make needed coaching changes for the good of the team and the University of Alabama.

Its unfortunate, but Shula appears to be incapable of addressing problems. I dont know if it is stubbornness or if he is just oblivious to the problems on the team (why else would he continue to play certain players that are underperforming???).
Its unfortunate because I like the guy, and I wanted him to be successful. But those changes are just rediculous. If those are indeed the changes that he suggested, then he must be trying to get fired so that he can collect his $4 million. Thats the only reasonable explanation that I can think of.

Actually, that's pretty insulting on Shula's part for him to think he could pull the wool over everyone's eyes with a meaningless proposal like that. He should be fired just for showing that much gall.

:mad2: as Earle said earlier this week, everyone is keeping a very tight lip. Why? B/c so few people know what is going on, and it would be easy to spot the leak.
In regards to his "proposal," and if this was his proposal, he may have written his own termination.
It was a big deal for him to say he was giving up play calling, but I believe staff members had to be let go as well......that's something that didn't come up in the article. No mention of CBC at all......maybe CDU was supposed to fix that by coaching the tackles?
Again, this may not have been CMS's proposal, or even all of it.....

This story really says nothing. More "unnamed sources say" etc, etc. Rumor mongering under the guise of reporting! I can not help but wonder why someone close to the situation would want this out in the media. It doesn't exactly give the impression of a HC who is on top of the situation and in control of things. Then again if that were the case, we would not be having this discussion.
