Simpson's community service

Saw on al.com that Simpson has been putting in community hours with The Rise School for disabled children and at the Tuscaloosa County Jail...and continues to do so. Kudos to Shula and the staff.

I now could care less whether Simpson misses a game for his juvenile exploit. What he is doing is much more meaningful, and apparently Shula has chosen to handle the situation in this manner. RTR

Coach Shula has handled the situation with class. There are coaches that would have made a spectacle out of this deal and probably ended up costing a young man his future. What would have happened had he just cut Juwan from the team?

I admire Coach Shula for his policy of not making public what discipline he chooses to inflict upon a player. It's no one else's business.

Plus it just eats Finebummmm and all the rest of the barners. It's so funny to see how they all act so immature about it all because they are all left out of the loop when it comes to Coach Shula.

PUBLIC RELATIONS NIGHTMARE

Guys I have to tell you, I have worked in public relations and marketing for almost 20 years and over the past 72 hours I was really beginning to worry that this Simpson story was spinning out of control.

You can talk all you want about Shula's "right" not disclose information, but if the PERCEPTION of "lack of control" or "lack of discipline" begins to becomes prevalent, then you have a problem. Shula was beginning to have a real problem. You can argue the reality of it, but, unfortunately, perception does eventually become reality.

The last thing Shula needed was the perception of being an undisciplined college coach. (That’s not exactly a tool for recruiting kids in the South.)

Then the Mack Brown story broke on Wednesday, and with that comparison the situation that the potential to unravel.

Overnight someone leaked Simpson's punishment to the press, leaving Shula's critics looking rather foolish, and began to tighten the lack-of-control-perception that had become unraveled. (I can only imagine the babbling, butt covering, and gnashing of teeth that will occur on the afternoon sports call-in shows).

So, I don't know how that Simpson punishment was leaked, but all I can say is the leaker needs to get a big fat raise.

But you know it really dont matter what we fans think or the finnbombs of the world think. What matters is what the players think and know. They know they get out of line theres a price to pay. I dont care if he does or doesnt disclose the penalty. Keep it in the family. Now the media like finnbomb hate it because they cannt spin it since they have no Idea what is really going on. They have to talk negative about it since they have no clue. But now they know something will take place to discipline someone but they will not know what. I love it. It eats them alive. They all look like idiots now. Thats what happens when you speak of something you dont have all the facts on or fully understand what happened. Im sure all week theyve been bashing CMS on talking heads radio. Well there you go bend over and insert foot!:biggrin:
