In all of my internet meanderings Bob Stoops rumors keep popping up. Rumors that he is looking to leave the sooners before problems become public. Could any of this be related to the Bohmar incident? Rogue boosters?

then WE DON'T NEED HIM!

we DON'T need a coach that even has a slight HINT of possibly probation at his last school, because that will THEN give the NCAA to start sniffing around once again, I do not think they would find anything(Shula runs a clean program) but they might find something they "forgot" to report in the Dubose era...

Just a few thoughts...
1) Is Jimmy Sexton his agent?
2) Wasn't Sexton reported as saying earlier this week that the name was bigger than Saban and Spurrier? (on Memphis Radio) Don't know if that was true.
3) I heard an interview on Finebaum where someone said that Spurrier would actually help Bama find a coach.
4) Shaun Alexander sure sounded like he knew something no one else did about a national championship coach.
5) Stoops is playing this weekend.
6) Mal seemed to have a quiet confidence in his statement today.

I know this is a lot of "ifs". But, if these "ifs" are true then I can really see something materialize here. If Mal pulls this off I will certainly recant everything I said about it being time for him to go.

Also....Sexton may have secured more money for a few clients and himself through this entire thing. Is he Rodriguez's agent?

From all reports if anything does happen to OU, Stoops would be cleared because it was the admin. that bungled this one up. Supposedly by not reporting it like they shuld have, but Stoops followed regulations to the letter.
Remember he did Coach for SOS.

You never know. Stranger things have happened. I've scanned some of the Sooner boards and, believe it or not, there is actually a small minority of their fanbase that is actually very unhappy with Stoops right now. My guess is it has more to do with losing two in a row to Texas than some of the other issues that are going on out there.
hey, at least he would be closer to his Florida condo if he was here in Tuscaloosa...;)

Amazing that some would be unhappy with him...
Under Stoops, Oklahoma has won 75 games, spent 74 consecutive weeks in the national rankings, played in seven bowl games, four of the BCS variety, taken part in three national championship games and captured three Big 12 crowns. On a playing field leveled by scholarship limits and parity, this era stares down the Oklahoma standard and does not blink.

During his time, OU has produced record–setting passers and receivers, three 1,000-yard rushers, suffocating defense and special teams units that rank among the most dynamic in the land. The Sooners have been nothing if not versatile.

• Overall record of 75-16 (.824)
• 2000 National Championship, three Big 12 titles
• Bowl game in each of his seven seasons (four BCS)
I'd kill for a coach to accomplish that (again) at Bama...

Well if the volume of rumors is inversely related to the likelihood of being our next coach, maybe Stoops is leading the pack. At least he hasn't made an emphatic denial in the past 48 hours. :)

Then again, I would be :eek2: if Stoops is our next coach.

I am not going to bite, I am not drinking anymore rumor Kool Aid I am not going to even think about another coach who has an "S" for a last name. I will not be dragged into this NO NO NO You can't make me go. Now just how much money do you think it would take to get him???:biggrin2:

I have a 99.99999% feeling in my gut that its going to be RR. I know he called into the radio station last night to set the record straight but I still think it will be him in the long run. And for some reason that guy just doesn't excite me too much. :conf2:

But if we got Stoops now that would be something I could get excited about.

CRR doesn't excite me at all. I know he had the record and all but for some reason I just can't get all goose bumps about the man. AND after his tirade on the radio he will take some serious PR handling if he takes the Bama job and the wife will need to grow a thicker skin. Mrs. Fran learned the hard way this is no walk in the park for the family of the man who heads Bama. I don't know why I even care anymore. RTR
