I went back and watched the field goal at the end of regulation, ran it in slow motion, and it may be a blessing in disguise that it was blocked, if it is not blocked he misses the kick to the left.

Anyone else notice that. I think it would have been tougher on him to have missed the kick wide left. Instead it was blocked, and we move on.

I couldnt tell for sure but i was thinking the same thing. We gotta hope our special teams get their act together from here on out or its gonna cost us big time eventually.

This was discussed before my Sunday School class got started this morning. I hadn't noticed it, but the consenses was it was way off target...

We've had many special teams errors all year long. I've said it over and over, IF we lose a game this year, special teams will more than likely be the culprit. Blocked FG's and punts, fumbles on punts, punt & kickoff returned for TD's... I'm sure it's driving the coaching staff crazy; I'm surprised we haven't improved more in this area after 10 games.

The kicker is always the team basket case. He needs to get his head right before the barn and the SECCG. Maybe he needs to read a book on Zen and the Art of Placekicking.

Although Bama is undefeated, it is still a very young and relatively thin team. There are a lot of underclassmen on the special teams units. They are going to make mistakes. I also share the fear that if we do lay an egg this year, it will be because of special teams. It is Bama's only glaring weakness.

I noticed that too about the ball not getting much air. I am glad JPW scored that TD in OT, I don't know what have happened if we had to attempt a FG, thank God that we didn't have to put Leigh in that position. :BigA:

I agree with this statement and feel the most "nervous" when our special teams in on the field. Maybe someone with more insight can help me out with this one, but with all the young talent on this team that really only have special teams to "make a play", why are we not more effective in this area? I can understand how this would hurt us on punt returns and kick-off returns due to inexperience, but lane assignments on kickoff and punt coverage should not take 10 weeks to grasp should it?

Roll Tide!

Looked like it would have been good to me, Either way it's hard to tell when it's low and blocked at the LOS.

I'd have to agree with you. Before I realized it was blocked, I was jumping up thinking we won!!

I also agree special teams needs to pull together.

But, when I go to work Monday, a WIN is a WIN and to say it to my LSU co-workers will be great!!

i totally agree,mi$$ing the field goal to win really wa$ a ble$$ing.:)

There is no depth perception from the end zone cam, so I too thought the kick was good. I then let a few choice words fly once I realized the kick had been blocked. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Whew, what a game!

I just re-watched this a few times. I think it is a stretch to say that there is no way it was good...the replay from behind was not from directly behind but from an angle. That being said, it most definitely would not have split the uprights down the middle.

I watched the replay and noticed that from behind the kicker the ball was definatetly going left as well as way too low for that close of a kick. It seems to me that the last half of the year that Tiffin has totally gone into the tank. I also noticed that Saban tore him up on the side line after the play, and plainly demonstrated he didn't get his kick up enough. I sure hope they give the other kickers a shot before we play UF b/c a shanked kick could well end any hope of a SEC championship.

We were watching the game on TV, but listening to Eli on the radio. I am wondering if I am the only one who heard him say the FG was good. It took me a couple of seconds to settle into abject misery. Did anyone hear that?

On the angle from behind the goal post, the kick looked good. Maybe the deflection turned the trajectory a bit, but it appeared to be dead center once it was touched.

The kick was way LEFT if your the kicker but from our angle it was right! So, technically it was way LEFT! THANK YOU Ricky Jean-Francois for not shattering our kickers confidence...THANK YOU! I think before its said & done we're gonna need him down the line.

RTR...:BigA:...

Verne Troyer could have blocked that kick. It would have been bad one way or the other. Let's not give LSU more credit than they deserve.

To be honest, I just don't think LT can handle pressure very well. I hope we don't have to depend on special teams to win a game down the road..ugh.. This is the only facet of our game that still scares me to death.
