remember when Jen Psaki advocated for the overthrow of the US Government, lied about election results, pressured electors to falsify votes while offering to cover their legal costs and went along with calling journalists enemies of the people? #bothsides

Not to mention the lawsuits from Dominion and Smartmatic because of the Big Lie?

Why would NBC (or any news organization for that matter) want to expose themselves to possible litigation by hiring somebody who still wants to push the conspiracy theory of fraudulent votes?

You know, I don't mind their dishonesty and hypocrisy half as much as I mind their opinion of us. That crap really gets under my skin.

pulling a headline from a 6 year old article to make a “point” about migrants bringing in disease to call out “hypocrisy” is a big reach

Maybe the only thing less popular with Republicans than McDaniel is NBC itself. Yes, America’s trust in the media is at all-time lows — and not just with the right, but with independents too. After this fiasco, it’s only going to get worse. In that light, maybe the pushback from within was some professional jealousy.

Listen to me closely - saying an article is dumb, probably better to say why, but we will not tolerate using an opinion about an article to make a disparaging remark about the poster. This board has picked up a despicable reputation for ad hominem attacks and it's going to stop, no matter what it takes...

Back in 2011, although NPR’s audience tilted a bit to the left, it still bore a resemblance to America at large. Twenty-six percent of listeners described themselves as conservative, 23 percent as middle of the road, and 37 percent as liberal.

By 2023, the picture was completely different: only 11 percent described themselves as very or somewhat conservative, 21 percent as middle of the road, and 67 percent of listeners said they were very or somewhat liberal. We weren’t just losing conservatives; we were also losing moderates and traditional liberals.

An open-minded spirit no longer exists within NPR, and now, predictably, we don’t have an audience that reflects America.

That wouldn’t be a problem for an openly polemical news outlet serving a niche audience. But for NPR, which purports to consider all things, it’s devastating both for its journalism and its business model.

It's sad that we have all gone into our ideological echo chambers with news media. I'm center right in my thoughts, but I like to read CNN, MSNBC, and HuffPost articles to see what everyone is saying. I can't watch cable news at all anymore. I remember being a talk radio nerd when I was in college and listening to NPR. I found them interesting.

Agreed. I remember the days when a person would try to visualize the "typical" NPR listener and it almost always looked like an educated, classical liberal. Sadly, the CL is on the endangered species list and I don't see how we can bring them back. I've said it before and I'll say it again: when the boomers are all gone, classical liberalism will die with them.

That's a scary thought.

Agreed. One day we will be nothing but a nation of extremists mixed with nihilists.
I have a nine year old daughter and I'm really concerned about the world she will live in. I'm trying as hard as I can to make sure she will have means when I'm gone so she can hopefully insulate herself from it a little bit if possible.
