We can always borrow the money from the Chinese to pay for it.Not teachers -- security guards.....one per building.....tax payer supported.....
It's about the safety of our kids....totally worth it to me

It's okay, Fox has released their talking points for the redhats:Apparently the guard resigned because he was set up outside when the shooter was inside killing folks. He knew better.
"Retired," not resigned. He obviously wasn't going to get killed right before retirement. If we're going to have armed school guards, I think it's obvious it's going to have to be with ARs...Apparently the guard resigned because he was set up outside when the shooter was inside killing folks. He knew better.
Obviously better than one per 3K students...One wonders what the optimal student-to-AR ratio would be.
We are making a grave mistake if we turn our schools into de facto prisons. Is that really what we want? The issue is that we're not fixing this problem with security. The rise of idiosyncratic spree killers is a symptom of the larger cultural and socioeconomic ills of our country. Until we fix the crater left in this country by the growing wealth disparity caused by financial & monopoly deregulations and globalization...Until we cope with the psychological toll that being in a state of perpetual war since practically Pearl Harbor...The nonsensical killings will continue. If the answer is to make our school systems into prison systems then you're only ratcheting the pressures up that will create even more of these outbursts.
Agreed that's why i said the whole concealed carry thing is a joke. Plus, I'm against a bunch of amateurs being armed in schools (that means teachers and private security.)If we're going to have armed school guards, I think it's obvious it's going to have to be with ARs...
No. Plus, you aren't fixing the issue. Make the school too hard of a target then they just move to the bus stop or somewhere else.We are making a grave mistake if we turn our schools into de facto prisons. Is that really what we want?
I'm not aware of any prison systems where the prisoners report at 8am and leave at 3pm M-F, have weekends, holidays and summers off while getting an education that will help you earn a living once you graduate (not paroled) from it.
even if we have professionals being armed in school, a non-zero percentage (and probably much higher than folks would like to imagine) are going to screw up in some fashion when faced with the reality of being in a live-fire situation. that is in addition to all of the other issues that could present themselves in a school environment.Agreed that's why i said the whole concealed carry thing is a joke. it's not about fixing the issue, its about letting folks who have created an unrealistic image of what the 2a means dictate the terms of "discussion"No. Plus, you aren't fixing the issue. Make the school too hard of a target then they just move to the bus stop or somewhere else.
Growing up we always had a resource officer at the school. An actual Sherriff's Deputy.even if we have professionals being armed in school, a non-zero percentage (and probably much higher than folks would like to imagine) are going to screw up in some fashion when faced with the reality of being in a live-fire situation. that is in addition to all of the other issues that could present themselves in a school environment.
The scope is trying to prevent "school shootings". I agree they would try to find other targets but only because the "school shootings" issue has been resolved successfully. Apply this same logic to banning the current weapon of choice (AR) and they just find another weapon to use.No. Plus, you aren't fixing the issue. LOL. TIL we only should worry about the "school shooting issue" not the "killing kids during mass shootings" issue. The scope is trying to prevent "school shootings". I agree they would try to find other targets but only because the "school shootings" issue has been resolved successfully. Apply this same logic to banning the current weapon of choice (AR) and they just find another weapon to use.
understood. the guy at the school last week was a sheriff's deputy if i am not mistaken. the issue is, regardless of training, it's very tough to know how folks are going to respond to a situation where you are in a live fire situation.Growing up we always had a resource officer at the school. An actual Sherriff's Deputy.
I'm not necessarily advocating it, I' just saying we had one in our school and it made us feel safer. Obviously depends a lot on the individual.
which means fat nixon will be fluffing his teacher arming idea for his minions even harder today. i expect a proclamation declaring the creation of the department of schoolyard security with the nomination of erik prince as the secretary by this evening.now saying Gates is going to plead guilty today. With that masssive pile of charges yesterday I thought he must have rescinded his offer to plea so Mueller b-slapped him. Looks like maybe that wasn't the case
for those keeping score that is 4 guilty's, 19 people charged on 100 counts. Again a really meaty nothingburger
