The policy and politics of Trumpism

Yeah, let's re-elect a guy who is mentally deficient and whose ego will not allow him to get help. Sounds like a great plan.
I guess we're stuck, as long as he can still read a teleprompter. Reagan's Alzheimer's was perfectly evident in his second term. He was just parroting what he was told. However, underneath, Reagan was a decent human being. Trump is not. The mood swings and temper tantrums will just get worse - and his finger is on the nuclear trigger...

I had a Facebook friend post this today. She has never come out and said she is pro-Trump, but has posted a lot of things against various Democratic candidates. Including ones questioning the sexual morality of Bloomberg (he lives with a woman he isn’t married to) and Buttigieg. She is a pastor but doesn’t seem to have issues with Trump’s amoral life.

I've seen the same thing from a few Trump supporters and wondered how they can't taste the irony.

People allow themselves to be willfully ignorant every day. Honestly, when people start judging others based on things like sexual morality, it says a lot about them. When a pastor does it, it tells you to run from that church. Pastors are supposed to help people find God's grace, not judge them.

so, is trump underbussing pence by putting him "in charge" of the virus task force

CNN’s Begala: Trump Put Pence in Charge of the Coronavirus to ‘Throw Him Under the Bus,’ Replace Him With Nikki Haley

CNN’s Paul Begala called it a “certainty” that President Donald Trump will replace Vice President Mike Pence with former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley as his 2020 running mate.

It didn't matter who he put in charge, that person was always going to be blamed by Trump when the virus spreads across this country. Remember, Trump believes there is nothing to worry about so, when it becomes something to worry about, Trump will lash out at his own. It's what he does.

When your whole adult life has been about getting rid of people around you to accumulate wealth, he even had a reality show where all he did was fire people, then it is no surprise when he continues this behavior as President.

I've always imagined his White House firings happening like this: You are called into a dimly lit board room with a big conference table. Tense music is playing in the background. Trump starts listing all your failures then, ... commercial break... , YOU'RE FIRED! Sad music slowly plays as you walk down a long dark hallway, in slow motion.

We were in one church where the youngish minister did exactly that. One member was swept up in a raid on a public area where there was group homosexual activity. He sang in the choir, sat by me in fact. The minister called him in and basically kicked him out of the church. Those of you reading who are members of the UMC know that this is not even possible or legal in the UMC. There was enough pressure on the bishop to reassign him that he didn't last long. He left the ministry for a while, but, last I checked, he was back in a church again, whether he belonged in the ministry or not...

We began attending Episcopal services several months ago. We chose this church, in large part, because it accepts LGBTQ, science, and logic as a matter of course.

So does our present UMC church, and, for that matter, more than 2/3 of UMC churches. Our minister presides in a white alb with a rainbow ribbon on his collar. The leader of the contemporary service band is lesbian and she and her wife are building a new house right behind ours. The guy I mentioned above is, thankfully, an outlier in the UMC...

So, Putin and Trump following the same game plan. Putin now solidly in bed with the Russian Orthodox Church. Changing constitution to recognize God, and define marriage as only between a man and woman.

Which is why I tell evangelicals I know, if you want to live in a largely white, anti-gay country with controls based on your theology move to Russia don't build it here
