I grew up in a world in which the Soviet government ridiculed religion as an opiate for the masses. It is astounding just how much that country has changed since the 80s.

Agreed, but it is also a sign that the government now has more control of the church in Russia. Putin would not align himself with the church unless he has power over the church. Otherwise he would be ceding power to the church.

The Russian Orthodox Church has a centuries-long history of being subservient to the state. Nothing new here...

If you go back far enough, they ran the government. They eventually grew too powerful and owned too much land . Peter and Catherine stripped the church of it powers and lands respectively. But you are right - since Peter, the ROC has been powerless.
 
I think the only adults were Rex and Mad Dog and both left and said the man was an idiot. I once thought Kelly and Haley were part of the adult group, but Sessions was probably more of an adult in the end than both of them.

Meadows was looking at going back to the Mountains of NC to be a pizza shop manager again without this. His district was one of the worst offenders of the illegal gerrymandering that was taking place in North Carolina that a judge finally fixed

He had already said he wasn’t running for re-election. So now they are going to have to have a special election for his district to serve for six months. For a district that won’t exist after this year due to un-gerrymandering it and the census redistricting.
