I think CNS was trying to preserve Tyson's redshirt this year. I believe he felt we could win with Milroe at QB while Bryce was out, and that proved to be the case, although it wasn't pretty. But we made it through the season, preserving an extra year of eligibility for Simpson.I think there was a reason we never saw much of TS that had nothing to do with his abilities.
If he had played in the A&M game, and lost, would that have hurt him mentally?
I know nothing about him; I don’t know what his psychological composition can or can’t handle. JM is, from his interviews, a team guy that doesn’t seem to be one to get down about a loss. I know nothing of TS in that regard.
But it seems obvious that Saban never had any intention of playing TS this year, and I just don’t think it was because of abilities; mop up duties mostly require giving the ball to someone else.
If (unlikely) JM was the “better” option, we should all be nervous; I just don’t think for a second that he was. And I don’t mean that as a diss to JM, cuz if he can greatly improve his passing accuracy the sky is the limit for him, IMO. Just got a lot of work to do.
I will say I have heard good things about Holstein. Spring will shed some light but I do seem to recall a QB winning the offensive MVP at A day and he didn’t start the following season. Gonna be fun to watch.
Now, let the competition for QB1 begin in earnest. Both will get their shot and it will be evident by the time we tee it up to start the 2023 season who the starting QB should be.
