First of all, hello to everyone. I've been reading this board since 2002 (my freshman year at UA), and I've never posted anything until tonight. I'm more of an observer in most cases. But after watching the game last night and checking the board this morning, I have to say how proud I am not just of our team for their play, but also of ourselves as Bama fans. I fully expected to see an abundance of flaming, as that is often our tendency when our morale takes a shot as tough as that loss. However, this was not the case at all.
Now, I'm only 24 years old, but I've played and watched enough football in my days to know how special an undefeated year/national title is. So much beyond what happens on the field needs to fall into place for a perfect season (i.e. injuries, etc.--luck). I say all this to make the point that I was devastated by way the game ended. It felt like Old Yeller died all over again--pure trauma.
That being said, the overall attitude of all Bama fans that I've spoken with (and/or read the thoughts of on this board) surprised me so much. It's funny, I don't think I've ever been so proud to be an Alabama fan, championships included.
Keep it up everyone, keep the faith. We all know that this ship is headed in the right direction. Despite the loss of 9 seniors that I feel so lucky to have had the privilege to watch play, we are getting nothing but better every day. A Sugal Bowl bid is HUGE.
