Thoughts on Joe Kines (to A&M)

Great news for CJK and for aTm! :BigA:

I was going to suggest the Aggies keep their eye on Paul Rhodes down at API (aubuhn) as I have a feeling he'll be looking for an occupational upgrade before too long..

You should be eternally grateful to Coach Kines. Without him, the Shula Error would have been a catastrophe on the level of the the Ears Whitworth years......Or worse.

I agree 100% T Mac. CJK was the reason that we kept out heads just above the water.
RTR:BigA:

TAM you got a good one embrace it for it does not exist in the young lion football coaches of this era. All he will do is make your good player great and offer them the chance to play at the next level and be successful in life

Just wanted to jump in and say that I enjoyed this thread tremendously. Great info.

I'm also looking forward to putting away some of the temporary bad blood that Fran stirred up between our two schools -- Bama and A&M have too much shared history, above and beyond anything having to do with that nasally-voiced interloper from Kansas.

I wish him well!
From all I've read of his quotes, I'd really like to meet and talk with him just for a few minutes.....that would have to be a hoot!!!!

It sure seemed that he made a few top-notch D's at Bama from a talent pool
that wasn't really on the top of the dreaded and most highly-feared national lists. I think he did a heckuva a job!!!

I wish CJK the best. We are losing a great personality and ambassador of our program--You can't put a value to having the likes of CJK strolling through your halls and picking up and delivering big time speaking engagements.

CJK is a quality coach and anyone who thinks otherwise is smoking something. He was always a brilliant defensive strategist and it's his defense and defensive schemes that kept competitive in a GREAT many games in which our offense struggled (and "struggle" is probably kind).

I personally wish CJK all the best and hope everyone else does as well. He has been steadfastly loyal to Bama and that means a heck of a lot to me. I think he'll be great as assistant head coach. Like has been said, now that Coach Fran is gone I can actually root for A&M with CJK on board. I hope he gives Texas fits.

Give 'em hell Joe!

at the 1st game of the 07 season we had seats in the field level,i got up to go get a drink and stretch my legs a bit inside and sat down and talked to cjk for a few minutes.he is truly a gentleman and was a good ambassador for the tide.we got to get seats in that level for 2 of the games and he would meet you at the door when you came in and made you feel at home and when you left at the end of the game he was waiting to tell you "to have a safe trip home".I asked if i could have my picture taken with him and he graciously said yes.in the picture you can see a ring on his hand that looked like a championship ring would anyone know what ring that might be

I really wish Coach Kines the best. He was great for Alabama football and he will do the same for the Aggies.
