Those too! I threw out my last pair in the late 80s. Funny, I was ribbing my BIL, a Gator fan, about jorts once and he had no clue what I was talking about - I had to explain it to him. He said "Oh! These?" and pulled a pair out of his dresser.

Frankly, I don't know what's the big deal about them. I used to wear them all the time in my younger days. I'd wear holes in the knees of my jeans and then I would cut them off just above the knees. After that they'd still get lots of wear, again.
And fwiw, I know lots of folks who still wear them, and neither they nor I have a problem with it.
So again, I don't why some folks see it as an issue.

I used to wear them too. And honestly, it's not a big deal - no one really sees it as an issue. It's just a fun little thing to jab Florida fans with. Same with corndogs and LSU. Honestly, I like hotdogs wrapped in cornbread on a stick. Just a little friendly SEC rivalry banter. No offense intended.

I grew up in Orlando - NSB was where the locals went to hang. They still allow you to park / drive on the beach there?

Yes, driving & parking are still allowed - although as of about 10 years ago - the county has designated several non-vehicle areas. It's still a great beach although more crowded on weekends these days - but that's progress I guess.
