Trump policies X

Most of the time the bank that gives the initial mortgage wil turn around and sell the mortgage to another bank--so that bank doesn't really care.

I'm thinking that the 50 year mortgage is basically a trick to prop up the housing market. If a 50 yr note becomes standard, then more people can afford a house and boom--demand (and prices) go up. I would not be surprised to learn that the same logic was behind the advent of 6-yr car notes.
Most mortgages on single family homes get sold and bundled into mortgage-backed securities. The "bank" in this case just services your loan. The collect your payments, handle principal and interest calculation and escrow. They take a small cut of interest as a fee for providing the service. The interest gets passed on to the mortgage-backed securities holders (individuals, trusts, pension plans, etc.)

The advent of the 6-year car notes and now the 7 and 8 year ones were all done to lower the amount of principal you are paying each month so the payment would be lower. The 50 year mortgage idea is just more of the same. It's neither a good idea nor a bad idea. It just depends on the situation. No one is ripping anyone off. If you don't want to borrow money for 50 years then don't get a 50 year mortgage. 10, 20 and 30 year mortgages are still going to be around.

Court blocks GOP-friendly map in Texas

The map would have given Republicans a leg up in as many as five House districts.

Well.....there's already been reports that since the GOP numbers among the Hispanics have cratered (I can't imagine why!), this actually is saving these clowns from themselves. They turned around and made some indisputable GOP districts more competitive but "lean R," which may not help in a bad economy.

But just wait. If this remains this way, the Democratic Insane Caucus Krazy response will be, "A TRUMP JUDGE saved them from themselves!"

Never mind it's 2-1 and one is an Obama judge.

This shouldn't be allowed period. I don't like the gerrymander when it's the decade mark but at least it's consistent and over time states DO change their makeup.

I also will never understand why anyone listens to a guy who cratered a football league with bad advice, lost a shuttle with his bad habits, lost 2 marriages with his bad ways, and killed millions mismanaging a pandemic......you know, if this guy had a rap sheet as a crooked vacuum cleaner salesman turned faith healer, people would recognize the con.

Who's worse, the guy on the left whose citizens did 911, who was behind the torture, killing and cuttting up a WAPO reporter or the guy on the right who doesn't seem to care.

Sorry, just couldn't help myself here. I put little stock into photos like these. It's not hard to find handshake moments when one can easily imagine both men wanting to stab each other instead.

Jessica: Why do you think Ghislaine Maxwell is in a minimum security prison and is basically being waited on…

Watters: I don’t know and I don’t care

And neither do any Republicans here or most anywhere
LOL on the one-side opinion. There are plenty of Dems and Dem backers out there that are going to be "cancelled" before this thing is over. It's not a Republican or Democrat issue. Both are in the cross hairs.

Quite likely true, and that's fine with me. However, there's no question that Maxwell is receiving preferential treatment because of Trump. It's not a mystery why his supporters choose to ignore that.

I will advocate for the prosecution of everyone who enabled Epstein or participated in the despicable acts with which he is associated. The fact that power wielders of all political persuasions are probably involved isn't reason to diminish anyone's acts. But using “both sides” as a shield to deflect from Trump’s involvement doesn’t make the problem bipartisan; it just betrays a political motive. Accountability shouldn’t depend on which team someone plays for.

And exactly who is deflecting anyone's involvement? I was merely rebutting your gleeful proclamation that Republicans were going to feel the brunt while ignoring the information that has already been leaked that has exposed plenty of Dem involvement with Epstein.

If it comes out that Trump was an active participant in any of Epstein's houses of ill repute then he should be prosecuted. Same thing goes for Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, or any of the other names being bandied around. If they committed a crime they should be prosecuted.

In defending himself against the seeming contradiction of calling the country a “pariah” less than two years ago and then granting Saudi leaders exactly what they wanted – an audience with the American president – Biden explained: “There are so many issues at stake that I want to make clear that we can continue to lead in the region and not create a vacuum – a vacuum that is filled by China and or Russia, against the interest of both Israel and the United States and many other countries.”

Is it your requirement that one acknowledges that "both sides" are involved in this scandal every time they post about it? If so, I missed you scolding those who have recently posted about possible Democratic involvement without mentioning that Republicans have also been implicated.

Regardless, the "gleeful" attitude you mention exists solely in your imagination. I wasn't implying anything about Republicans likelihood to "feel the brunt." Rather obviously to the objective reader, I was noting that, like Watters, most Republicans have thus far chosen to gloss over (or outright ignore) the fact that Trump has ensured that Maxwell receive special treatment.

I take no glee in any aspect of the abuse of minors and, as you seem to also espouse, I want every single person involved to be shamed and prosecuted. I have little doubt that powerful people of all political persuasions are involved and have no sympathy for any of them.

Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."
