Rodney's a friend of mine of 25+ years and his site is excellent. I'm an original member. It's a pay site, of course, and has a much different complexion from ours. It's a matter of taste. However, he wanted this information out for all Bama fans...
https://twitter.com/abc/status/https://twitter.com/DangeRussWilson/status/1197309240680964096It was confirmed that he did suffer a broken nose on the play.So my wife saw on Facebook an article where Saban FaceTimed Tua. Said he had his nose “fixed”. I assume that means his nose was broken on the play. Anyone in the know, know anything different?
I am so thankful Tua has a great medical staff at UA and at the Houston hospital. I do hope he recovers quickly.
I ran into someone today who was very mad about Tua's injury. He is not a Bama/Saban fan but he does respect Tua. He was mad at Saban and the doctors who cleared him, saying there was no way he could have been healed after just 3 weeks, yet he was cleared and that he was pumped up with so much anti inflammatories and other stuff that it just hid the pain without healing it enough to play at 100 percent. Said he remembered Tua saying he was not fully 100 percent last time until May when he had the surgery in December. He also said there should be a malpractice lawsuit and Saban should be fired.
Of course, I was not happy with his opinion and I told him my feelings about the entire situation. I am still mad about what he said. I guess I am using this message board to help me get over it. I know everyone has their opinion, but I am just mad at the people who blame Saban for everything.
I would have walked away while they were talking - just walked away and let them keep talking to empty air.I am so thankful Tua has a great medical staff at UA and at the Houston hospital. I do hope he recovers quickly.

Tua was on the field because he and his father wanted him there. Not because Saban wanted him there...I am so thankful Tua has a great medical staff at UA and at the Houston hospital. I do hope he recovers quickly.

Good grief. When it rains it pours. It was confirmed that he did suffer a broken nose on the play.
Yes, I know and I tried explaining that plus other things but he didn’t really agree. I guess he just doesn’t trust many doctors for some reason because he seemed to think it happens too often in college where players are cleared too soon.Tua was on the field because he and his father wanted him there. Not because Saban wanted him there...
I struggle with that issue too but then I remind myself I’m not a medical expert.Yes, I know and I tried explaining that plus other things but he didn’t really agree. Your friend isn’t Skip Bayless is he?Yes, I know and I tried explaining that plus other things but he didn’t really agree. I guess he just doesn’t trust many doctors for some reason because he seemed to think it happens too often in college where players are cleared too soon.
I'll repeat. Coach's plan was for Tua to sit for two weeks...I think the dilemma for Saban was the fact that here was Bama sitting at #5 in the polls, perhaps with a razor thin edge over Oregon. To avoid losing ground in the polls we know style points matter. It's natural in a situation like that for any coach to leave the starters in a bit longer than normal to try and score a few more points. Scoring 40+ points on an opponent in one half of football would have been impressive no matter who we're playing, so Saban left Tua in to try and score one more. I can't really fault Saban for that. I know if Saban would have pulled Tua too soon or worse yet, not play hjm at all and we would have dropped in the polls then people would have criticized Saban for not doing all he could to try and win convincingly.
I was basing my thoughts off of what I heard at the Monday presser where Saban said Tua looked fine, it was an SEC game, you play your best players so why wouldn't I play him? He then said "what if I don't play him and we lose?" He sure made it sound like it was his decision to play him although now you seem to indicate that may have just been said for the public record. I know you're close to the situation and have contacts who know what happens behind the scenes so I'll believe you.I'll repeat. Coach's plan was for Tua to sit for two weeks...
I've had what I said confirmed by multiple sources. He's taking the heat off Tua and the family.
