UFL (A J McCarron's Team)

Yeah, if he decides to hang up his cleats, he's got options. One of which is probably to do nothing the rest of his life, assuming he's (he and his wife) invested properly.

But IIRC, he has really talked a lot about having joy in playing/competing in the UFL. And to have his boys see him play. At this point, if he plays, it's about that joy. Not the money.

Also, if he lives in Tuscaloosa he'll never have to pay for much of anything the rest of his life. His cost of living would go way down in TTown. He's a legend.

I recall reading that there were some issues between AJ and the staff. I don't think it's ability that led to the release and I believe he would be one of the better starters in the UFL, if he wanted to play. He hurt his ankle last season and I don't know how that rehab went. As you get older it doesn't get better I can tell you. There was also some scuttlebutt that AJ might come to the Stallions but that never formulated. He may be ready to move on. I'm sure he will have options in media if he wants it. Not too many 2 time national championship QB's around who look good on camera and have a supermodel for a wife.
Wait. AJ's wife is a supermodel?

After his first win in the XFL, he teared up talking about his boys running down onto the field to congratulate him. That had to feel pretty good.

I see AJ jumping into the coaching world, potentially as a high school head coach, for a few years at some point. Last year he was in the mix for the Orange Beach job. Not sure if he wasn't chosen or he turned it down but it shows he has interest in going that route.

Secondly, if you were the QB at Alabama and an NFL starting QB, getting a smokeshow wife is about as hard as finding a drunkard at Waffle House at 2:15 am.

It was more of a comment on Brent Musberger going on and on about the young lady at the national championship game. As I was watching, I was thinking, "Down, boy, down" like when your dog starts behaving rudely with your neighbor's leg.

And yes, I could see AJ getting into coaching. I think he'd be good at it.
