Uniform changes are ridiculous. NCAA needs to set a Uniform code.

I haven't played football since HS, but the uniforms back in the Stone Age were constrictive. OTOH, I played basketball weekly until a few years ago. I naturally wasn't in short shorts then. However, I did try a pair of the knee-length shorts for kicks and found all the extra fabric very distracting. However, that's just my take - and I'm old... :D
Since you started playing the socks have gotten shorter and the shorts have gotten longer. :D

Several teams have green uniforms and play on green grass. Its never been an issue before. Boise also never plays any decent teams at home.
Most teams wear white pants or some other color than green at home. For example, look at the Jets of the NFL...again it is the principle of the things.

Earle as long as you are not wearing black socks with black dress shoes you are ok in my book. That is an awful image to put in your head right.

C'mon...why does it bother anyone outside of the Oregon fan base what they do with their uniforms?

Do you think they're somehow getting an unfair advantage with recruits because of it? Do you think that they're getting an advantage in gameplay because of it?

Unless the regulation deals with some strategic advantage in the uniform, let's not mire down the NCAA with more ridiculous rules. And how on earth can you compare the uniforms with the cowbells? One of them creates a great deal of artificial noise that impacts the ability of a team to communicate on the field and gives an advantage of one fane base over another to dictate what team is impacted. The uniforms give...nothing...unless you think that a player somehow is distracted by a uniform. And if we're going down that road, wouldn't the fans and all the craziness THEY wear be more of a distraction?

I think the Oregon helmets and the uniforms are getting ridiculous. NCAA or the Conferences need to agree on a Uniform code. Like

  • You are only allowed 2 home and 2 away jerseys. as well as helmets
  • The Helmets cannot have glare, like the Rose bowl helmets, it can be a disadvantage.
What say you?
I say don't be such a debbie downer

Back when I played in the 70's (I am old I know), there were no artificial noisemakers allowed in the stadium because as I was told by a ref, it created an unnatural advantage. That is the point about the cowbells. It is the principle again and the uniforms can (not always) create an advantage over the other team. I do not know if any others played ball...I am assuming some did...but if there is an unnatural advantage, then there is a problem. Why is that so hard to understand?

My question...why do you need so many uniforms? One home and one away and maybe a special one for bowl games. I would like to see something done about duplicate numbers also...one number per player...I am old school.
Since the roster has 100 players, there is not enough number available for players.. so the need for duplicate number.
NCAA allows football teams to issue duplicate numbers on a team as long as the two players don't both play offense or defense and do not appear on the field together?

1. The whole artificial noisemaker being an unnatural advantage is a lame rule, in my opinion. I say the more noise in a stadium, the better.

2. Tell me an instance where a uniform has created an advantage over the other team.

But it is still not grass green, it is Oregon green. I think the point is that Boise States unis are not just blue, they are the exact same shade of blue as the field.
Again - so what? A player on Boise is just as likely to get confused by someone in all blue on a blue field as the opponent is. A competitive advantage is simply not there.

On the flip side, I don't see many people complaining when a visiting team wheres all white in a game with snowy conditions.

I cannot name a specific instance where a uniform created an advantage over a team. But, when I played and later coached, there were instances when certain things like lights reflecting off super shiny helmets or my players being unable to pick up receivers or backs because of things like that were a problem.

I'm glad Oregon isn't trying to recruit middle-aged (and later) men who are fans of traditional uniform powers....their classes would suffer :)

And I'd be in the camp that would lay the blame on those players. Maybe it's just me.
