I know we all want to believe that Meyer's success was due in large part to Tim Tebow. However, I seriously doubt that Meyer said to himself, "oh shoot, I'm losing a really great QB this year, time to retire!!!"Thanks for the excellent explanation of what is probably going on with Meyer. I just wonder how much the fact that Tebow is graduating played into his decision. I think Meyer knows what many have said, and thats life is going to be a little more stressful without Tebow. It would be very difficult to maintain the high standard of excellence that Florida was able to enjoy with Tebow at quarterback. Meyer is a great coach, but it would be very hard to replace one of the greatest players to ever play college football.
I'm very disappointed to see Meyer retire, but I respect his decision. Like someone mentioned above I was hoping to see many more meetings between Saban, and Meyer.
In the history of football, how many coaches have retired because a lot (or one really good) of their starters left?
