So I guess you think Gerrymandering is a good thing as long as your side wins.
It sucks and should be totally eliminated. Some will lose and some will win but so be it!
This trump instigated Gerrymandering just shows how screwed up he has made things.

Only white conservatives view fixing the injustices of the past as racism. You have to prop up minority groups to right the wrongs, but that hurt the feelings of a certain group. So, now we are wiping out a civil rights act to go back to the broken racist districts of the past, but it is being sold by conservatives as “stopping racism”.

Turning back the clock on civil rights is one of the goals of Project 2025. This is just another check mark in that gameplan as the MAGA cult stands and cheers.
You just confirmed CA’s point. IOW, racism is OK, so long as it purports to counterbalance previous racism.

And that only white conservatives are monolithic. Everyone else is, at least a bit, diverse.

the idea that the majority-minority districts that came about from the voting rights is “racist” is absurd and bad faith framing

it’s basically the equivalent pee wee herman going “i know you are but what am i?”

Why would you assume that? I literally posted information, didn’t share any opinion about it.

I’ve stated multiple times here that all gerrymandering should be banned.

I’m also not republican nor democrat and haven’t voted for either party in two decades.

Sorry, I assumed that you thought those results were a positive thing. I guess we agree on all Gerrymandering whether good intentioned or not.

What would you think if the size of the House of Representatives was expanded? This guy is on a one man campaign to “uncap the House”.

Before you say “More Congressmen bad” hear him out. The video is under nine minutes long.

The guy in the video is Mr. Beat. (Not to be confused with Mr. Beast). He is a middle school social studies teacher who has a YouTube channel where he mostly does history videos with a lot of focus on presidents. I think he has quit teaching to focus on content creation. I have seen a lot of his videos and he is pretty entertaining in a dorky sort of way.

Fair warning, he is somewhat left of center but his content usually isn’t very political and I don’t see him as a radical leftist. He lives in Kansas and has done videos showing he admires Bob Dole.

I think he makes some good arguments. The House was capped when the population was about 1/3 the size it is now and having smaller districts would make them better able to serve their constituents.

That said, no idea is perfect and there is no ideal solution to Congressional reform. There would also be a financial cost in paying more Congressmen and their staffs.

I can see it being a hard sell to the masses as most people would freak out at the idea of more politicians and everyone would see it as a plot to benefit the other party. The proponent being a liberal would likely turn the MAGA crowd against the idea. It also might benefit third parties, which neither of the P2 parties want.

I don’t have a strong opinion either way but I think it is something worth considering.

The Constitution is an amazing document... But it was written for a small agrarian nation of 4 million people. There were no roads between the major cities. No railroads, telegrams, limited technology across the board.

You can make a case that we could commit to modernity in government, schooling, and many other areas that would work better for the people as a whole. But the lust for power and the money are major impediments.

In my office I have framed copies of the Declaration, the Constitution, and The Surrender of Cornwallis by Trumbull to keep these things in mind and where we came from as a nation. They remind me every time I look at them.

LOL, but the democrats don’t cheat!

Saw this last night as well. Let's just all start getting honest that everything is about power and power only for all of these politicians. I don't want to ever hear anything about norms or institutions from a single one of them again. Redraw the lines, stack the court, the election was stolen, admit new states, count illegals for representation, government shut downs are terrible unless my side does it, I can run for a third term, and the list goes on. We need to clean out all of these people and put in hard term limits on all levels of government from small town city councils to US Senators.

The life long bureaucrats need to all go as well. All of these directors of this and that at the EPA, IRS, NSA, FCC, SEC, and every other combination of letters that have been sitting there implementing and coming up with policies because Congress has abdicated its responsibilities to these government functionaries that have never produced a single thing in their lives need to go yesterday. Start over with them as well. Those jobs need a term limit as well. People talk about the need for experience in these positions, if the experience is in failure and stupidity then do we really need that?

I will be so glad when the primaries are over here. Every add is one of two types:

I love Trump. I like to hunt and go to church.

My opponent is some woke RINO nutjob.

There is one attack ad saying a woman doesn’t support Trump because she didn’t vote in the 2020 presidential primary. Yes, she didn’t go vote in a rubber stamp election means she hates Trump.
