Weather thread...

We all belong to the Willis Carrier appreciation society this time of year... :)

Yep. We have today and tomorrow with highs in the mid 90s and then we gradually cool down to the 70s for highs over the next 5 days.

This is actually the exact time of year when we begin cooling off, though we have fluctuations.

I've seen it close to 100 this time of year here and I've seen snow on the ground too.

I didn''t know you guys had such severe swings in weather up there.

The high today here in Memphis is predicted to be 82 - and we're not predicted to hit heat indices above 100° until possibly early next week. Crazy comfy.

Every year it's different.

I didn't understand microclimates that well before moving here.

Back in AL weather is quite similar across the state.

Here, there's so much variation in terrain and elevation that you can move a relatively short distance and go from 90 degrees and dry to snow pretty quickly.

I've been told that it's snowed here as late as July 4. The last frost is usually early June. Of course, it can also be 100+ degrees that time of year.

Yeah, that's alien to me - I've only ever lived in the south. As a bit of a weather nerd that's wild to me.

Has been to me as well.

One good thing is that even when it's 100+ here it usually cools down to the 50s at night so we get some relief, unlike in the South. Also humidity is much of a problem.
that's been the rough part this year, long stretches with no cooling down in the evenings. we are supposed to get into the mid 60s the next few nights though, which will be nice

Attended a brother's wedding in Michigan in July and encountered chilly weather.

Vacationed in Colorado in July and encountered snow.

While I enjoy my life here in Florida......I can envision the day when I travel elsewhere during certain times of the year.
