Football Nerds talk about the game.
I do not believe they have a good feel for the o-line. The nerdier of the two talks about Milroe dropping back 12-15 yards when pressured and what this means for tackles trying to block outsie speed guys. I expect to see Proctor back and Pritchett back at his position, and thus the o-line will function much better.
That said, so far, Bama has largely been feast or famine on offense. Bombs away-TD or 1-2-3 punt.
That has to change for the team to be successful.
I'll try to watch later, but JM almost always resists staying in the pocket OR when it starts to collapse a little he will not climb the pocket.

This is a huge weakness on his part. When he starts backing up and/or going sideways he often is running into the very direction the OL is blocking the defender toward.

But I like how he’s been stepping forward in the pocket to make throws. CKD likes how he does that too.

I know he did that on the TD pass to Kobe Prentice...it was his best play of the game. And I know CKD mentioned it.

But until JM starts doing this regularly, it's a problem. 9 out of 10 times he WILL NOT climb the pocket.

Citing JM doing this the other night as if he does it all the time is like finding a Tom Brady video clip when he scrambled for a first down on 3rd and long. Yeah, it happened a time or two in his long career, but that was not his normal practice.

He's doing much better from what I remember when edge pressure comes and it's a simple step up. He has a harder time with the more subtle pocket movements or when there is interior pressure. In those moments he tends to want to bolt out of the pocket and then can run into edge guys

He also did it in game 1 with a 22 yard TD pass to Law.

All too often, there's been no pocket to climb, in which case, it's hard to criticize him. Even a quick dump or slant requires some time, which he hasn't had. I hope having Proctor back, if he's effective, will make a difference in this area...

A little, yes, but vast majority of the time he does not. I mean, when Aaron Murry and the two geeks and others in the national media are pointing it out it's time to reflect on it some and call it what it is.
