Week 4: Ole Miss vs Alabama

We have looked like Bama, circa 1998 these last two weeks. If we get the win, it will be a lot like last year's game against Ole Miss. Something like 30-24, although I don't think we get to 30. Kiffin has certainly been waiting on this one. However, that don't mean squat. He has wet the britches a few times in big games since he's been in Oxford. He isn't a very good gameday coach.
What do you mean he's not very good gameday coach?

Practice footage distributed Monday by Alabama shows Jaheim Oatis (foot) participating, and Kadyn Proctor-Terrence Ferguson-Seth McLaughlin still at LT-LG-C.

It`s hard for me to imagine that Seth snaps grounders in practice to the extent that he does in games. Could it be that in practice he doesn`t have to worry about a guy lined head up on him about to drive him 5 yards into the backfield?

It was mentioned he had hand injury the last few weeks...

Boneheaded in game decisions. Like going for it on 4th down again and again against auburn a couple of years back. Even tough that had already backfired
Did he do that last year against Alabama? going for 4th downs so much? I don't think it's a bonehead decision. Several teams does that. LSU, Auburn, Tennessee goes for 4th down a lot, especially if it's 4th and 2 or shorter.

Saban mentions Tyler Booker and Jaheim Oatis have been practicing and Ty Simpson is the backup.
This is huge for several reason. What we haven't seen in practice footage is where is Booker lining up on the OL. We haven't seen anything on OL this week, which tells me i think there's another shuttling going on. Oatis is a positive for DL, he'll create lot of issues for opposing OL and making it easier for Bama defense to do their job.

Just my opinion, but if he were a better gameday coach he would have 2 wins in a row against Saban and Bama.

In their own territory though?

This year, they're5-6 on 4th downs conversion. I think Kiffin is being more careful this year than he was last year.

I just noticed something 13-34 on 3rd down conversions. That means they are punting the ball more than going for it.

Goodness, such negativism. I know that we would like to win all the time, but such is just not in the cards. "Into every life a little rain must fall."
Try to be thankful for all the good years like no other team in America has enjoyed. Get it? No other team in America has been able to enjoy the many years of success such as we have had.
Things will be better. We will beat Ole Miss Saturday, and we will beat Auburn later on. But even if we don't we are still with the greatest tradition in all of college football.
On a final note, just remember that we are still number one in all rankings of states based on alphabetical order!

He drove me nuts watching them go for so many 4th downs in bad field position. If he gets that out of his system, he will be more successful. It's ok to punt sometimes and it's not always bad to take the FG. College football is very momentum-driven. If kicking a FG or punting can help keep momentum for you or blunt the other team's momentum that is very important in my uneducated opinion.

Nice curriculum Professor. Love to keep it half full around here when we can.
