What % do you think obesity contributes to the health problems in our country? (ETA - and why is rucking the best answer? :) ) Part II

I just drink water - the need for electrolytes is largely overblown for a vast majority of people. If you're sweating all day long, sure, but for the typical 30-60 minute workout there's no need if you eat a decent diet.
I tend to sweat a lot. I have done only water at least once a week. Usually depends on the day. Yesterday was water, today is gatorade/water combo.

Today marks the seven-year anniversary of my first ruck - little did I know at that time what I was starting / getting into. Over these seven years, I’ve worn out an ‘indestructible’ ruck and 26 pairs of ruck shoes, while burning through 14,672 miles and 293,791 feet of elevation gain.

Find your exercise, do the work. Listen to your body but don’t make excuses. Figure out what foods help you to be your best and avoid the garbage pumped into highly processed foods.

It’s soooo worth it. Trust me.

Speaking of "Castaway"....saw it in a South Florida theater when it first opened with a girl I was dating at the time and her sister and her husband - a retired German boxing champion.

My gf was from Miami but her parents moved to Weston when things in Miami became too much for them to handle. We were down there visiting. Her Dad was a retired hs football coach and they knew many folks in the sports industry. In fact, Angelo Dundee and his wife came to dinner one night when we were there and I got to meet him. Nice folks - very down to earth. He signed and gave me his business card, which I still have.

That was one of those movies though - the kind that blow you away - especially the ending.

But I digress.......

Currently working on getting rid of my fluffy version and back to my mojo version. Once you cut a bunch of stuff out of your diet and exchange it for better stuff - it's really not so bad. Just gotta change your buying/eating habits.

Since school is out and I have time to start riding my bike again, I have been able to ride 32 miles. My sit bones are sore and I am not in riding shape yet. The big thing is though, I am changing my diet up too. Trying to cut sugar out of my diet by doing the Mediterranean Diet. So far so good.

I've been doing the same -- but walking, not riding. Main thing is cutting out sugar on a regular basis...harder than you think. I've lost @ 10 lbs in the last 2 months (thank you prednisone!)...I feel so much better working out and walking, etc.

Do any of you take creatine monohydrate? I am starting it -- due to both muscular needs (I'm 74 and just don't produce it as when I was 30) as well as brain food -- recent tests have shown it to be beneficial in both cases. Any thoughts?

I love sugar! Especially milk chocolate and Reece cups so that has been tough but I know I have to quit. I usually don’t feel good within about 30 minutes. We purchased an at home blood sugar kit and I have to leave the sugar behind.

My son took creatine monohydrate for a bit and said he noticed some benefit from it. He started having migraines real bad so my wife threw everything away because she thought everything he was doing caused the migraines. We now know that was not the case.

I ended my love affair with a car as transport around 11+ years ago. I've had a car for few months here or there, and I share a car with my family. But, overall any time I can, I use a bicycle a means of transport, means of exercise, and means of blowing off steam. It's worked wonders for me, as I weigh the same as I did 25 years ago, and while I'm no spring chicken, I can still hang with most of the 20 and 30 year olds. Below is a summary of the last 15 years of my riding, hiking, and kayaking data. I always aim for 10,000 km of riding a year, but I only rarely hit the mark. Clearly Crimsonaudio spends more time rucking a year than I do riding...

This is awesome, fantastic work!

I wish more folks would show this level of dedication to taking care of themselves!
