Play a faster up tempo game, than this slow walk up the floor kind of game? Seems like way too many of the players are just standing around, not really running plays or anything. I'm no expert, I just like watching this kind of hustle, in a game. RTR.

Since CMG has been here they haven't been much of a running team. Even two years ago there were only a few times in each game they would actually run the court!
Although on those teams they seemed to be more of a bunch of "I's" than "WE's"...!
This team seems to be more on the order of being a "TEAM"!
In time I would look for them to start running the court after working with each other in game conditions for awhile..!
Then again this is just my opinion, and I am sure there are a couple thousand others...!!
To become a "TEAM" takes "TIME"...!!

I also think that we have the athletes to get out and run a little more. We have a little problem with depth, though, at several positions and that could be a problem with fatigue and fouls. I think if we still had Mo to go with Pettway we could definitely get up and down the floor for easy baskets.

What totally baffles me is, that when Gottfried was at Murray State his team was a run up and down the court type of team. Even today some commentators say "Gottfried's teams like to run", and i think to myself, no we don't.

I think Coach MG is doing the smart thing by playing a more controlled-tempo game. We can't expect our boys to do things they aren't yet capable of doing. I can remember some of our teams of the past who ran around helter-skelter and did little more than wear themselves out and commit turnovers. As we build depth and gain game experience the tempo can be increased and we will be better able to compete with the elite teams we now have the guts to schedule. This will be a difficult season, but an important one. Mark has said that it takes more time to grow oaks than it ddoes pines. RTR

We do take "opportunity" fast breaks, but we aren't very deep at guard, and we don't rebound especially well. So far we have run the half court offense pretty well though.

This machine ain't got all the parts for that type of show. Like someone said earlier, we don't have the depth at certain spots and the main one is point. If Pett gets in foul trouble from offensive fouls then we are very short there. Before the season is over teams will attack him to get him into trouble.

I've been calling for the fast break too, but we havent had that advantage yet. I'd look for it more when we get Jonus and some others involved, along with next years Steele, Weber, and Miles. That group will be athletic and speedy.

IMO, when we start running, we will then see CMG has the team he is looking for.

I would not complain too much...this team passes and runs the offense ten times better than the past few teams. I really enjoy watching these guys play and CMG said it would be fun. Just watch and have fun...we'll be running before you know it.
