Question: Why did Vern stumble-quist say that about Ingram's father?

My suggestion would be to make this a sticky thread. I have a feeling that we will be needing to use these addresses again.
Is it just me or are nearly all announcers becoming unbearable.

We should start counting the blunders throughout the game. I mean I know it's live TV, but come on. They even joked about the names goofs themselves during the Star Jones bit they did and Vern fessing up about Stallworth.
I was at the game but just got through watching the replay and it was painful. Came back from one break with vern welcoming everybody back to Fayetteville. :rolleye2:
Just really a bad, bad crew!

Probaly wouldn't hurt to email someone at Alabama as well. I'm sure CNS would love to go off on these idiots.

I agree with you. The athletic department should have some kind of response to this. We need not tolerate our players being treated so irresponsibly.

I agree why does CBS fight so hard to get the Bama Matchups then let these bums do the announcing. Danielson is so clearly anti-Bama he might as well be wearing a sign around his neck. I think its because the Bear didnt want him and then he went to play for the supposed other national powerhouse at the time ND, and has been jealous ever since. I mean at least try to pretend that you're a professional. Oh, Gary please keep telling me what you would on every down, so that everyone knows what the team shouldn't do. You're hindsight seems to be perfect-Congrats!

As for Verne lowshot about the incarceration thing then backed it up with "he's in jail", referring to Ingram on a 3rd down screen that was short of the first. Please, If you can't get the names correct just call out the guy's number.

Don't get me wrong I don't need a homer to call the game. I'll settle for someone who doesn't have it in for Bama.
He actually played at the "other" powerhouse team in Indiana - Purdue.

It could be worse. We could have to deal with Brent Musberger (fired by CBS decades ago).

Sean McDonough used to work for CBS. Maybe they could lure him back. He used to call the CBS 2:30 Central game and he did a great job. I believe he called the 1999 game against UF in the Swamp, and his excitement was as geniune as his objectivity. Or, maybe they could lure Ron Franklin from ESPN. I've read some blogs suggesting they he's not too happy with the network's decision to 'demote' him. He's one of the best in the business. I also agree with the poster above who gave props to the Nessler/Blackledge team. Those guys are great.

Nessler and Blackledge are by far the best broadcast duo ou there, imo. Herbie is also really good and does his homework.Brent, not so much.

I'll pile on a bit regarding CBS. Did anyone notice that "in the studio" with Tim Brando, et al, they had our logo on the front of the table backwards?

How in the world do you mess that up? And you're telling me that no one in the booth noticed?

I did notice that...I had to do a double take. That backwards "B" just popped right out of the screen...how could the producers not see that?

Someone start a website to fire these clowns!:mad2:
I usually don't like those sites, and maybe it's because I'm still irate over this weekend's game, but firevernelundquist.com is registered.

Anyone want to give suggestions or offer any design help with the site? :)

Both of the guys are just horrible, Danielson with his sly, sneaky sounding condemnation of all things Bama. verne with his frequent bouts of verbal diarrhea. Its enough to make one sick.

Just post 1000 youtubes of all his follies and start hirerecedavis.com
You know, that's not a bad idea. It'll likely be a blog style site, and youtube videos with comments would be perfect. Maybe some of our gifted video gurus would take up the mantle for each of our games on CBS of creating a low-lights video of all of Verne's misspeaks. Then we could youtube it and put them on the site.

Also, there have to be some rival fans who could get on board doing the same thing for their games each week, right?

As for the hirerecedavis thing, maybe instead a blogline on the site listing names and comments for anyone we think would be better than Lundquist?

At this point, it is clear to me that neither Danielson nor Lundquist take any pride in the job that they do. Forget that the Ingram comments were classes and the the Grant comments were false. The amount of mistakes they make on routine things is astounding. And they do it on a consistent basis.

This is not specific to Alabama games either. I've watched other games where they make just was many stupid mistakes. Good announcers take the time to learn the players correct names and what city the game is being played in.

I can't believe the CBS lets these two jokers stay on the air. With the amount of money CBS spends to broadcast SEC games, you'd think that they would want the quality of announcing to be pretty high. Having Gary and Verne diminishes the value of the product that they paid a hefty price for.
BINGO!!!

It's not like they have to go all over the country and cover a hundred different teams. This is the "SEC" game of the week, there are only twelve possible teams. Teams like Bama, UF, and LSU are going too be on several times a season. IMO it's a lack of preparedness by supposed professionals.

Can we move on? I could give a rip about VL screwing up names. It just make them look silly, not Bama. It did seem that Verne pulled it out of the air on Ingrams dad, but its common knowledge. Probably not the best comment to make, but who said CBS or any other media is a decent entity?

Aside from the Ingram comment I get tired of the crappy commentating. People make mistakes and most understand that. But this has been going on for two years now of grossly screwing up player's names, getting lost in the flow of the game, and friggin' getting the two teams on the field completely wrong. No one expects perfection but geeze, come on.

I agree they were pro Arkansas and have BAMA no credit. They got our players names wrong for the 200th time, but that all pales in comparison to the Mark Ingram comments. The TG comments were uncalled for and completely fabricated, but again pale in comparison to what was said about Mark's family. I'd like to have someone dig into old Vernon's family. I'm sure somewhere we could find something he wouldn't want mentioned on national TV. Idiot! An idiot with a microphone on national television is a dangerous thing.Posted via Mobile Device
Dallas4Bama, indeed the comment about Ingram's father was ill advised. It was so bad that my wife's attention was detoured from her reading of a murder mystery to make comment. No doubt Ole Verne will get a talking to, if not already. He and CBS better hope The Justice Brothers, don't get wind of it. What burns my behind is that Verne may have thought incarcerated would not be in the vocabulary of Bama & Hog fans. ;) Thus, he would get away with it. Shucks, most likely, Ole Verne had a point to make about how well Ingram was doing despite his father being in jail. Then, action of the game interrupted, before he made his point. Happens to me often.

Folks, when you get my age (right behind ole Earle), you don't let the small crap bother you as much. Let me count my blessing about Saturday's game. I am thankful:
  • I only missed the 1st 8min & 45sec because Channel 4, New Orleans, stayed with the LSU game. The SEC should not allow games to be scheduled so closely.
  • I was able to watch the Tide win convincingly from the comfort of my home.
I'm sure others could add to this list.

:BigA: ROLL TIDE!
