Why does everyone hate us?

I went to the 2002 with my Father and step-mother. It was so great to hear how civil the Vol fans were with comments to my step mom like "xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Just oozes with class. Possibly the worst comment I've heard.

I was at the UT-Bama game this year and I too was appalled at the language that (I think it was mostly the student section) was yelling. But as I and my friend were leaving the stadium, there were many Tennessee fans that were very nice and complimented us on our team and that we could have very well won. I did not have one Tennessee fan badmouth me or say anything that was not respectful. I don't know if that would have been the case if we had won, though.

A bit of interesting history...(The Last Coach, by Allen Barra writes:
"In 1948, the two coaches had made a gentlemen's agreement not to prepare for their annual showdown by watching the other's game films. However, three weeks after the Wildcats beat Marquette, a package arrived at the Kentucky athletic department. It was a film of the Marquette-Kentucky game, and it had been mistakenly addressed to the Athletic Department of the University of Tennessee at "Knoxville, Ky."
"Bryant simmered but said nothing, resisting the temptation to call Neyland's office and ask him what in hell was going on. On the afternoon of the game, Bryant arrived early and, without knocking, walked into Neyland's office.
"General, here's that film you asked for of the Marquette game," he said, tipping his hat as he slipped out of the office. Kentucky, a big underdog that afternoon, fought the Volunteers to a 0-0 tie." When Coach Bryant came to Bama, his past experiences didn't stay behind.
I am always wary of Volunteers....among others!

Interesting story, but I find "mistaken delivery" a bit far fetched.

To all of those that had a bad experience in Knoxville, I am deeply sorry. That is not what college football should be about. And I agree that the student section was extremely out of line in what was chanted towards the Bama fans that day. Many Vol fans were ashamed. Zero class.

It seems that my posting here has offended many of you. That was not my intention. I'll refrain from posting anymore since it seems I am unwelcome.

Best of luck in your coaching search and beat OSU.

Everybody doesn't hate us, just the ones who are insecure in their own teams.

Most everybody likes to root for the underdog. Alabama has always been the top dog, so they all hope for our demise. If they think they smell blood, they circle the program like a bunch of vultures. Unlike the Roman Empire; however, we are not about to let a slump crumble us. Nobody has done it as well, as often, and never will. Just like a Phoenix, we will rise again.

The powers that be could learn a lesson from Coach Bryant He said "Be aware of 'yes' men. Generally, they are losers. Surround yourself with winners. Never forget - people win."

We need a coach who won't say yes to the boosters and the trustees, but will say "It's My Team, I'm the Coach, You're Not!"

Hate is a strong word. Strongly dislike (due to our fan's ignorance) is likely better.

The fact that some are still looking at Saban, even though he has in every way possible to mankind said he isn't coming (which reeks of a peeping-tom) is a good start...

Is it really that hard to see why folks want to see us fail? HUGE history, horrid recent showing - the public likes to see the big ones fall...

You coming to our board and lecturing us while defending the scum/coward you have as a head coach and then patronizing us with insincere comments offended many of us. Get bent and I hope Penn State beats you......badly.
