Question: Will Lowery

I cannot confirm it, but Gentry Estes did say Saturday that he figured Lowery was working with the one's after word got out that Lester's concussion occured while he was working with the two's.

This makes sense since he did much work with the 1s on A-Day, IIRC that is.

yeah he played with the first team D during the A-day game for a while. Apparently he knows the D inside and out which could give him a big advantage come sept. 4th

If he's who I think he is, my wife coached his sister in soccer. She could flat our fly. Great family too! I'm really pulling for Will to see the field (and make great plays!)

I'm concerned with anyone we put back there right now, but I'd definitely take a smart safety who knows Saban's D in and out over an incredible athlete who doesn't know jack about the D right now.

All I know is that he did play a lot at A-Day. I know this because a girl (a relative, no doubt) was cheering for him constantly every play in which he participated. Use your most nasal, country-twang female voice, "COME ON WEEE---UUUULLLL!!!!! LET'S GO WEEE---UUUULLLL!!!"

So I know he played a lot.

I have heard that Lowery really understands Saban's DB schemes. May count for an awful lot with all the inexperienced young DBs we have.

I understand what you mean, but Rashad Johnson was a Shula walk-on and look what Coach Saban was able to do with him.

There's a little bit of a difference in Rashad Johnson and Will Lowery. Johnson made an impact early on. Lowery is getting a chance, with several of our current DBs having limited experience on a college campus. Having said that, I do think Lowery has a chance to make an impact in 2010. He looked pretty good during the A-Day game.

So you heard me??;);) jk

very funny though.:biggrin::biggrin:

CNS doesn't like putting players out there that get out of place, especially in the secondary. Consistency seems to be a BIG thing for CNS, rather than potential or big play ability.

As has been mentioned, this young man really understands the defense maybe better than the starters. While not the biggest guy, he IS smart and he saw a good bit of playing time with the 1st string D in the A Day game. Made a number of plays and it seemed glaringly obvious to me, he knew what he was doing out there.

Bingo. If Will is where he supposed to be and is making the plays he's supposed to make everytime the coaches see him on the field or on the tape, then he gets to play. Simple.
