Mack's note: Personally, I'm disappointed she feels that way

With all respect, I wish you had simply posted the link and let people read the entire story without the highlights that may lead some to see her remarks as being "disappointing". What she says is true as relates to the grand picture and totally expected. I grew up during the 60's and 70's when the Bear was ruling football and the same happened. The wins are not as high as they once were and loses are far lower than they used to be when you have great success. This is a huge part of a coach's DNA. Coach Saban always says this program and process involves everyone...we all have heard him say this many times and he isn't just whistling Dixie when he says that. He gives 100% to everything he does and simply expects everyone else to do the same in their own way. I was at the UT game and while the atmosphere was really good, it wasn't electric. (I do think from what I saw and read the LSU game was). OK at this point I realize this is a rant, but I can tell you that if I lived within 3-4 hours from Tuscaloosa I would be at every home game. Heck, how many remember the feeling when the Jumbo showed Nick walking down the runway for the 2007 Western Carolina game. It was incredible and it was Western Carolina! Let me also say this - this is like my 102nd or something post on here but I have been a very loyal fan for over 45 years and understand why maybe, just maybe, some here think her comments are "sad" as I read someone say...but she is not talking about you. People on here love Alabama Football and that's the only reason I joined this Board. But be honest, how many of you have friends or family that have gotten to the point of taking things for granted? To me the whole story and what Ms. Terry says is very real, honest and frankly uplifting to me. Sorry if this offends and I apologize for the length, but after reading the first several posts I just thought this isn't what she is saying. To conclude, in 1982 I was walking down the steps at Legion Field and this older guy said "the Bear just ain't got it like he used to have". I will never forget that and maybe that's why I just typed a manifesto :smile:Roll Tide!

I agree.

I was taken a little aback by some of the mentioned comments when I read the article, but I still love Ms. Terry and think she means well. All I would say in response is if you want butts in all the seats, change the student seating policy and then stop scheduling teams like Chattanooga and Georgia State. Many working people are simply not going to pay their hard-earned money, especially in this economy, to go watch such games that are so noncompetitive--and that needs to be understood when these games are scheduled.

I really hate that she feels that way. I am spoiled though. I expect to see Bama win every game now, and I get disappointed if we don't win convincingly. All of that being said, I appreciate what the Saban's have brought to this fanbase. He is an incredible coach that not only puts good football teams on the field, but has also produced some great young me as well. I'm spoiled and loving it. I know now how my dad felt being a Bama fan and alumni in the 1960s and 1970s.

I've defended fans for ditching games early, but what kind of atmosphere do you expect to have when it is plainly obvious that we were going to beat a hapless UT team by four touchdowns? Human nature won't allow fans to "get up" for every game, especially against sorry teams.

We may be approaching "our doodie don't stink" status on both parties involved.....

The coaches are paid to give 100%

The players commit to 100%

My commitment is to my family, my job, my life.....

I don't have time to be committed 100%....but I love Bama Football, and on Saturday for four hours I'm ready to go.

Not sure what else she wants fom me

Read my above post. If all the money the man could want, every resource available, A-day attendance, record sales for Bama gear, etc aren't enough, then the woman will never be happy; and frankly, I couldn't care less. Unless she was SEVERELY misquoted, that was the most narcissistic thing I've read, coming from a coach or his 'camp', so to speak.

No, I would pitch in to buy poor, under-appreciated Terry a dozen roses to convince her we appreciate her. Have some dignity, people

And you still haven't mentioned the nine-foot-tall statue nor the sheer volume of people who wait in line just to shake his hand ...

Don't turn on her that quickly.

Yeah I can see this quickly turning into a negative thread about Mrs. Terry.
Exactly!! And many of the posters in this thread have PROVED HER POINT!! Entitled, whiny and too quick to judge!!

Way to go TF members!! Most of you have succeeded in reading too much into a statement, not knowing when or under what context she said it. Ugh.

Wow, some fans have turned on Ms Saban so quickly.

I was alarmed by the article, but will wait to see if she has any other comments before burning a Saban effigy.

Is it possible Miss Terry was misquoted or her words were taken out of context?

The quotes were snippets and context is definitely lacking.

I'm not convinced that she is talking strictly about the fans.

I'm not convinced of anything. The whole article was negative in tone towards both the Sabans and Alabama. I'm not sure if the reporter was stirring the pot or grinding an axe, but it certainly smells like one of the two.

I'm giving the whole matter a pass for now, but I'll be watching to see what comes out next. This will certainly garner some sort of reply.
