My husband noticed and pointed out the same thing. The Line plays altogether different when Kelly is in as opposed to LIndsey. It's much more solid with Lindsey, and I hope that will be addressed. I've had several friends say they noticed the same thing, so it can't just be us female sofa coaches.
I agree with you. If we had blown them out of the stadium, our boys may have faced the barn with the attitude that we can beat anybody, all we have to do is just show up. As it turned out, they now realize that they have to stay focused and work on correcting our shortcommings. This sets up for two weeks of sincere preparation.
Really the most upsetting thing to me was taking a step back. Only way I know to say it. Special teams, this doesn't apply to you.
Maybe it was our competition in October, but I think we would all agree that since the Colorado state game our team has vastly improved. Really I'd say since A&M but the state game was ugly. It seems each week they've grown and worked on previous weeks' issues. They've seemed to grow in their confidence for one another and found a rhythm each week (sometimes 1st quarter sometimes not until 2nd or 3rd).
We seemed to be hitting our stride. Then last night. Maybe we needed a shot in the pants. Maybe we needed a big dose of reality. Maybe all that talent and all that coaching just hits a snag every now and then. I don't know. I'm just a little concerned in our mindset. Auburn game will be a war and we will need everyone's best. And we should expect nothing less.

This has been addressed many time by Coach Saban: Jackson simply just got outplayed by Slyve and Jones. He has hard time adjusting game plans every week. Slyve is still nursing sprained ankle. Jones is getting better each game. Give him a break on that. Slyve and JOnes are going to compete for starting job for the rest of the season.
I'm very disappointed in lack of focus in the game last night. But I"m confident that we'll bounce back and fix this in time against Auburn.

CSU was the best "creampuff" OOC team we had scheduled in a long time. We didn't take them seriously and got pushed around a bit. I think the same thing happened with MSU. The team got caught looking forward a bit and really just wasn't dialed into the game in front of them. It's not like the team played poorly offensively, they just made a few mistakes in pass protection or technique that led to a hurried QB or stuffed run that blew up the drives. Also, the tailbacks made a few bad ball control mistakes for two fumbles. The problems were not pervasive because they did move the ball around but they seemed to happen whenever Alabama almost had the momentum to sweep them off the field and out of giving real effort. The focus just wasn't there last night and it showed in some of the sloppiness.
The fumble issue is becoming a huge one heading into a game in Auburn where those things could send the stadium and opposing players into a frenzy. Auburn will beat us with a performance like that one. I don't anticipate it but the RB fumble issues haven't just been a MSU game ordeal...it is something all defenses are looking for now that putting the ball on the turf is on tape.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this, and don't get me wrong, we're not bad mouthing Kelly, cause he's doing his absolute best he can, I too think we're a better OLine when Lindsey is playing C..
Was a very poor game on Bama's part. We're lucky they didn't blow us out of the stadium turning the ball over as many times as we did. A win is a win though, and I'll take them any way they come! Roll Tide!
What on earth was with that first "interception" last night. Did I miss something, or did that DB not come down EIGHT FEET out of bounds? That was absurd. Would like to see a replay or gif...

Well, we won. That and the defense were the few bright spots. It was the exact opposite of the Texas A&M game. In that one the offense bailed us out after several defensive mistakes. Last night the defense bailed us out after several mistakes by the O. Without the TO's and penalties, we win closer to 30 than 13. I attribute a lot of the poor play to an LSU hangover...but CNS won't be a happy camper this week.
I thought that on AJ's first interception the db was out. I backed my dvr up and watched it a few times and told my wife "that'll be reviewed and overturned"...it wasn't. Why I don't know. I also questioned accepting the penalty. In fact I said at the time "that may have been a mistake". Two plays later after the missed fg I said "that's why CNS is a great head coach and I'm just a fan". Never second-guess CNS...hahahaha

Yep. No doubt there's a good reason why Kelly's been getting the nod over Lindsay, but I'm missing it entirely...

I thought that's what the backs were suppose to do in that offense though.

I can't help but wonder if our defense was schemed more in preperation for Prescott and the run oriented attack. I know our defensive schemes have nothing to do with offensive turnovers,but it seemed like Russel had way too much success throwing the ball.
