The "sources" made a mistake, it's really 11 bazillion pesos...what's that, about ten bucks...hahahahaFavorite quote:
"It's going to be a challenge for the boosters," the source told TSK. "For one thing, we have to figure out exactly what a bazillion is."
IMO he is doing his job and Saban is letting him do his job.Buzzard, I hardly think CNS is a victim here. Does anyone really think that Jimmy Sexton has gone rogue on the Sabans?
Actually, my information is that Sexton is not really behind this. All the smoke is being generated by the UT side...IMO he is doing his job and Saban is letting him do his job.
Factor in the fact that CNS has reached an age where mortality starts staring you in the face each day. Maybe it isn't about money at all but how he sees his life playing out now that he has taken a program to a place that may have even exceeded his own expectations.Krazy, correct me if I'm wrong, but the answer may be easier to find than we think. Mrs. Saban said it in her interview: Her husband is a builder, not a custodian of what he's built. Maybe he's finding that he's uncomfortable with the pressure that goes with being the top dog -- the expectation that you win all the time.
As for those who say he's too old to start over. He'd find at least as many advantages at Texas as he had here. Sure he's older now, but it took him less than two years to have us on the cusp of a national championship. He's got time to resurrect Texas.
We can match Texas money. But we don't offer him the challenge of rebuilding the brand. We ARE The Brand.
No, he does what he's told..gasp!Buzzard, I hardly think CNS is a victim here. Does anyone really think that Jimmy Sexton has gone rogue on the Sabans?
I'm not surprised one bit. I have recently relocated to Texas and I can say I thought *u fans were bad. This bunch is a piece of work.Actually, my information is that Sexton is not really behind this. All the smoke is being generated by the UT side...
May be but if he leaves it would only be for the money....How much money does one person need.I listened to that Phil Savage interview. He sounds like someone who knows that a possibility realistically exists that ends with CNS changing his state of residence. Well, DUH. We all know that, right? None of us is in such denial that we don't understand that now would be the time for CNS to make his departure if he's going to do so.
What NO ONE knows for certain is just how CNS arranges his priorities. What WE may think of as a logical order of priorities, he may not. Why are we spending so much emotional energy fretting over something that MIGHT, but also MIGHT NOT occur? Worse yet, why are there actual Tide fans who seems so shocked that this could occur? This is the man's JOB, plain and simple. He doesn't love the university the way many of us do. How could he? He doesn't have the level of sentimentality we do about it to cloud his reasoning. He is a professional and he is weighing his options like all professionals do when they consider how they wish to evolve (or not evolve as the case may be). It's actually a smart thing to do - take time to think over one's options, rather than make a too-quick decision. Heck, it took me nearly two years to come to a decision about my career (leaving private practice and going into an employed position). Why shouldn't it at least take him a matter of weeks or even months?
Not disagreeing w you, Tidetwin, however, something tells me that - as is the case w members of the media - if mortality is staring CNS in the face, then CNS is sure to stare it down, and mortality will blink first...Factor in the fact that CNS has reached an age where mortality starts staring you in the face each day. Maybe it isn't about money at all but how he sees his life playing out now that he has taken a program to a place that may have even exceeded his own expectations.
Yup. After 2009, I understand the loathing many fans have towards the shorthorns.I'm not surprised one bit. I have recently relocated to Texas and I can say I thought *u fans were bad. This bunch is a piece of work.
Thanks - Even more reason for folks to calm down until this is settled. Some people seem to really have lost faith in Saban. That is a shame.Actually, my information is that Sexton is not really behind this. All the smoke is being generated by the UT side...
I meant last Friday - last Monday; if that is what you mean, then my next observation would be to say he hasn't had time to even look at a contract (one was supposedly on his desk last Friday), much less sign one. I am sure glad he doesn't bother to read stuff like what's going around, he'd probably retire tomorrow....Every single day. I heard on 99.1 earlier that he is going to end up personally doing around 50 (total since the IB) in home visits before the dead period starts. This is his window before the dead period and before bowl practice starts. There is a list of HUGE recruits visiting this weekend including Leonard Fornette. You have to assume that he going to NY with AJ Saturday night.
IOW, he's been working his butt off recruiting, like Bill Battle said today.
I had a pretty wealthy guy tell me one time that unless you're up in the $100 million range, there's never enough.May be but if he leaves it would only be for the money....How much money does one person need.
Earle...please give me latitude...IQ and knowledge supercedes (supersedes if you like) post count...Forget his post. There's no way we'll pay ten million, or, at least, not this year...
Truth is, we REALLY don't know exactly what has transpired. We've heard about contracts sitting on desks for days, $100 million over 10 years offered by Texas and all kinds of garbage. Thanks - Even more reason for folks to calm down until this is settled. Some people seem to really have lost faith in Saban. That is a shame.
