Saban signs multi-year extension w/Bama, shorthorns on suicide watch...

Supposedly the story is Brown was all set to retire and became infuriated when all the rumors fired up this week so he back tracked . Now they are reporting the decision is Brown's alone to make. I hope he steps down after their bowl game. I know people will always talk, but I believe CNS is retiring at Alabama. If you think the meltdown has been epic so far, let Mack Brown retire now after all this nonsense when every major coach has signed an extension.

I think that you are correct, but I think that he will resign next week. Also, I do not think that Saban's decision to stay at Alabama had anything to do with this. I think that he knows what they were going to offer, but he never had a real desire to leave. All conjecture, but supported by his statements and those of his wife.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

So I missed the amount by a few million...but was correct on the resigning part. I will send my yard guy over this weekend...although it is a long drive from Dallas. For the record...I sit in a good role in an international EPC oil and gas company that generates $15BB annually...have not blown leaves nor cut my lawn in a long time. Roll Tide and rolling to the Sugar Bowl to watch the game from my company suite...

Spoken kinda like a 'Big Hat'. ;) :BigA:

RJ, do you know whether that's the same Chip Brown who worships at the altar of and slobbers all over Dan ""Coach" Hawkins on Sirius/XM 91?

If so, FWIW, he was saying last w/e that Mack Brown wants to stay one more season to [hopefully] eclipse Darrell Royal's win total at Texas, and then he'll bow out gracefully...

Anyway, as posted previously, while I respected the concern of my fellow TideFans, I never for a second believed that CNS was leaving Tuscaloosa, and I'm very happy that last night's development has allayed those concerns, and that everyone can now turn their attention to the Sugar Bowl, to next season, and to CNS' finishing his coaching tenure at Alabama.

Just like he and Miss Terry told us he would...

They wanted 'Major'... they are welcome to him. Things worked out well for us after he left.

AJ just said on ESPN, "the media did a really good job of making a story out of something that was never a story to begin with. Coach Saban told me he wasn't leaving and I believed him."

ETA: AJ just raked ESPN over the coals when asked about the last play of the Auburn game. LOL. I love that guy!!

Yes it was Great! I never doubted he would stay. But let's just look at what really happened:

Sumlin gets $5M for not accomplishing anything beyond beating Bama last year & Deliverence Boy.

A former board member (wonder why he is not a present one?) leaks a story about a phone call with Sexton to A Message Board.

Message Board creates a lie & ESPN runs with it 24/7

People become angry CNS is not responding to a rumor about replacing a coach & friend who STILL has the job.

Typical CNS is having Fun out recruiting & watching people especially the media making a fool over themselves over a RUMOR!

CNS gets paid as he should and expresses again for the umpteen hundreth time he is Happy at Alabama!

talk about motivation for the Sugar, I would not want to be OK this year or API next year.

Gus you had better take a job somewhere because in 2 years you will be out at the Barn.

If Mack coaches UT in the Alamo Bowl on Dec 30 and anounces afterward that he's resigning, I think that dramtically increases the likelyhood that Fisher or Malzahn will be headed to UT. Honestly though, almost nothing could surprise me with the whole UT coaching situation at this point. Too many moving parts, factions, agendas, etc.

As the matter ran on, I also became convinced that he would stay. If he were going to leave, at some point, his and her statements would have stopped and "no comment" would have taken over. I do have good reason to believe that he mulled it over, at least briefly. Who wouldn't? A friend of mine told me something this AM which, had I known it earlier, would have silenced even the initial doubts I had...

What did he tell? Stop speaking so cryptically Earle! lol, just kidding. If you could paraphrase that would be great as I and I'm sure others are very interested. Thanks for all the info you already provided and for keeping the board classy!

All down to miscommunication. The leak was that Tejas intended to go after "an" Alabama coach, which means Fraudchione's letting go of the rope at Tejas State.

Neuschwanstein! Gorgeous place in real life, but a sad sad story.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Some Texas fans are saying CNS re-signed with Bama only after UT decided to keep Mack. We'll be back here next year.
