I think it depends on your point of view. You think we have coaching problems. I think we have the best coaches in the game but, the players are just not buying into everything right now or, like KrAzY says, are just young and haven't learned enough yet.
Only exception is special teams, they've had question marks for a few years now but, are flat out awful this year.

This is not a good football team. Defense has been the strong suit all year, even playing the young guys. Offense has regressed since the bye week. As bad as this team is compared to Nick's Bama standard, they probably should still be unbeaten.
The Truly sad part is that last years Bama team would dominate college football this year. I really can't see a dominate team anywhere in the country. The Mississippi schools hit the cycle just right. TAMU, LSU,BAMA all are very young while the Rebs and Bully's are upperclassmen teams .

No one thought OM would be where they are while they struggled with Boise State and Memphis. We will be fine..
Easy now. I have watched the game, streamed Eli Gold, and participated in a postgame forum discussion from Eastern Kentucky while watching Ole Miss light up A&M in HD. :smile: And I must say that the mountains are beautiful with fall colors despite the typhoon conditions we have experienced the past few days.
What do I take from the game?
- Offensive line problems aside (due to Ryan Kelly's injury), I felt that some of the playcalling needed to be executed better by the players, but also that Kiffin needed to call the game that would give Sims some confidence, or use his physical talents in a more effective way. I have no overall problem with Kiffin's playcalling to this point - I still feel it's more of an execution problem right now - but just like Alabama made the defensive adjustments at the half, we should've made offensive adjustments to try to help Sims out.
- I did like, however, that the team slowly picked up their energy. It took awhile, but the defense helped the team pick up their energy. At first, they looked dead, or hungover from the Ole Miss loss. But as the defense kept taking it on the chin, and kept playing lights out for most of the game, the rest of the team took notice. Just as much as a loss can be a good thing, an ugly, close win can be a good thing - as long as we can address the other weaknesses, or make adjustments to minimize those weaknesses.
- Turnovers and penalties. It's clearly a systemic issue, and my default reason is youth. We're playing a lot of guys that are physically talented, but do not have the mental fortitude to stay focused on the task at hand. It doesn't explain why Arie false started (a senior), but that's my reasoning. The thing with youth is weird; it can either be the best thing because you can just let them play, or it can be the worst because they are not used to having to perform under pressure, or battle with their opponent that wants it a little bit more than them.
Related to the above point, I see a distressing but fixable pattern (I think it is) that occurs in all dynastic teams. CNS has created a system that is essentially calls for the players to play like robots. When you have mostly upperclassmen that have played enough games, you can get that. When you have most inexperienced players, it is very, very hard to replicate that success. On one hand, despite the inexperience, CNS and his staff have helped these players perform at a very high level. On the other hand, the team is getting burned enough times on offense and/or defense that it has an ultimate detrimental effect on the game - we end up losing.
In my unprofessional and inexperienced opinion, I believe that CNS and his staff need to simplify the offense and defense a bit - create situations/plans that will allow the players to just play. Over time, increase the complexity if results prove themselves to be positive. I found this to work with my distance runners when they are younger but talented. But, CNS doesn't read this board because he doesn't have that kind of time, and so I will continue to support this team, win or lose. I haven't forgotten where this program was when CNS was hired, and I certainly don't want to return to that level of play either. Roll Tide everyone.

After cooling off after our sloppy win..And watching Ole Miss shut out the vaunted Aggie Offense, I've come to the conclusion, The SEC is actually better this year than we're getting credit for from the media..We know The Aggies offense has a really good offense & yet they're being shut down by The Reb's D..The same D we put 17pts on & was in the game to the bitter end..

That game was reminiscent of the Dave Rader/Mike Shula offensive performance. That's all I can say about it. We better get better fast or it will be a long rest of the season.
W Kelly out, the OL had a bad night, so much so that we clearly didn't feel comfortable running between the tackles. Bringing Coker in would not have helped much, because he can't throw downfield if he's running for his life.
In the first 4 games, Kiffin did a great job of calling plays that his our weaknesses. W/ our injuries, he doesn't appear able to do that any more.
Or Sims isn't playing the position like he should because he's inexperienced. He and Cooper had done so well that he's now stuck on Cooper in his progressions. Brock Huard showed a great example tonight. In the first half, Sims should've had his first INT occur when he threw behind a double-teamed Cooper. In the second half, he stared down Cooper, finally went to the other side of the field, and found DeAndrew White and got the throw in just in time. He has to do that more of looking at Cooper, and if he isn't open, or the window isn't open, move on to the next one.
Kiffin isn't designing everything to just through Cooper, but Sims is going to be staring him down in the foreseeable future.
I am not calling for Coker unless Blake gets rattled or we lose another game. I really think we need to break in next years starter whether it be Coker, Bateman, Cornwall, or Morris because it really feels like we are going to face the same problems next year at qb unless we fix it now. I like Blake, and not all of it is his fault but it really appears that Florida is very overrated

Oh please, no. Did you have to go there... That debacle, the frustration, it is all coming back to me now. Seriously, though, maybe this is an offensive unit where you have to K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid). It seems like the more adjustments we make at the line, the less successful the play is. It is like we can't see the forest for the trees sometimes.
Can anyone explain to me how we had third and 2 with a minute thirty three to play and never had to snap it on fourth down . League will look into that . The clock should have never moved until the ball was snapped after the penalty. The hogs would not of had much time , maybe twenty seconds and a long field, but they should of had the ball again. and I would complain if it happened to Bama.
