Beating Bama with Hurts at QB

But seriously, Yeah maybe it's a good thing that the team is rallying behind Hurts now.. I know lot of players read message board and all. So yeah, I agree with you. Lot of people don't really understand things we say can be considered negative ... and I know someone will come back with a response saying that we have the right to say what we want as a fan, and that they need to get over it... That may be true, but still...
We have a right to say a lot of things (doesn't mean that we should), and saying them once may not be a bad thing, but beating a drum like this over and over again isn't good for anyone.

Criticism can help us grow, but too much criticism - well, nothing positive comes of it.

Well, it's hard to know because what is a teammate going to say when asked about the starting QB while surrounded by media? If he doesn't want to get in the HC's doghouse he better show solidarity. For example, how many times have we seen HC's who are on the hot seat get a "vote of confidence" publicly by a school only to see them fired shortly thereafter? We've read on here from reliable posters that there was at least a little criticism in the locker room about Jalen after the Auburn loss. We've also seen some frustration on the field from receivers who didn't get the ball when they were open. As far as criticism of players go, aren't they constantly shouted at by coaches during high school and college whenever they do something wrong on the field? If a player has the right attitude they can use criticism to their advantage and reach a higher level of play to silence the critics. I'd much prefer to think of our team as a group of mature men who can handle criticism from fans as opposed to a bunch of hypersensitive types that can't.

Coaches and school =job

Players and football = sport

So, the many players who have come forward in support of Jalen are all liars and cowards, afraid of getting benched if they told the "truth" about how they feel?

If I rolled my eyes hard enough to express the way that I feel about this, they might fall out of my head.

Am not saying the player or players quoted are lying about how they feel. I don't know since I don't know any of them. Am merely suggesting that sometimes what is said publicly is different than what is going on behind the scenes. Like I mentioned, schools come out and say they are 100% behind a coach who's on the hot seat while behind the scenes they are already looking for a new coach. I'm not saying Jalen doesn't have the support of the MAJORITY of his teammates but for someone to say that 100% of the team has confidence in him might be a stretch given the evidence.

As far as I am concerned, he has the support of 100% of the players, because 100% of the players who have said anything publicly (in pressers or on social media) have shown him total support.

And I get that guys like Harris have shown frustration about touches, but he said last week that he has complete trust in his coaches. So, yes, he is probably frustrated at times, but it looks like what we really have is a tight knit family playing for one another.

Time to get behind this team. Win or lose, they are all a part of the Alabama family.

I don't know a thing about it, but there was discussion on here a couple of weeks ago about JH "losing the team".
I am sure that there were a lot of frustrated players after the Auburn loss. But the point is that they seem to be united right now, when it matters.

I have no idea if they are of not.

But I do know Nick Saban is only going to let players that will say what he wants them to say speak to the media.

He isn't stopping them from expressing themselves on social media.

I'm not speaking for BIG1Tide, but All he was saying that while there are some things that Hurts and other players deserved criticisms for the way they played in last few games... but there are times where we probably need to remember that anyone can see the stuff on the boards.... whether it's here or other place, that's all. I just didn't want anyone to get upset over the article I posted. I just thought it was interesting that players were coming together behind Hurts... whether it's on social media, in front of reporters.. whether it was fake or not, but still..

To add, FWIW, I really don't care who plays QB in the CFP for Alabama. For me this isn't about getting behind Jalen - it is about getting behind the team. Accept that they will do whatever they can to win, but that it may not work out. But, win or lose, they are still family. And family supports family, always.

With all due respect, B1G maybe he should put a moratorium on social media posting anything about the team or the upcoming game. It really serves no purpose other than give the media something else to fabricate a story.

I'd say that was quite probable, given that some of them had already tweeted material which was divisive...

We all know how hard it is to properly express our thoughts in this type of media. Add a little frustration after what appeared to be a season ending loss and you have a recipe for disaster. But if Saban stops kids from posting on social media, your dynasty is dead. He will lose the entire team in a hot second.

My oldest is 20, and between him, his brother, their cousins and their many friends, not one would allow someone to tell them what they can say to their friends, and they talk to their friends via social media. But believe what you will.

I don't know how much he's relaxed his social media policy but while it wasn't a complete blockage of using social media , he was pretty strict on what was allowed or not allowed in this article. It was 2012 and we know how that year turned out

According to some folks here, some posted irresponsibly already. Never saw one of those posts, but they might have happened. So maybe he clamped down, but the world has changed a whole lot in the last 5 years.
