Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread Bama vs. LSU...

Alabama's last two losses have been to team's with head coaches you could generously call "CEOs" that basically add nothing to their team on game day other than emotional support and mostly pay dividends in the off-season as recruiters. Alabama lost each of those games because the coordinator level and down on the staff were inferior. The brain drain at the Capstone is real. It was bound to happen eventually but I think we've had a bad run of coordinator hires and it is killing us when the talent levels are nearly equivalent. These guys aren't bad but I don't think either of the past two years approach what we had from 2008-2016.

Fire Golding? You have NO idea what you are talking about. He was given scraps to put together a defense with all the young players. He`s going to be the next Nick Saban. You know nothing about this team if you try to pin this on Golding.

Scraps!? No, he was given a long list of 4/5 star sophs and juniors when they were freshman, and their absolute lack of development to this point automatically made a list to true freshmen seem more promising.

This may be somewhat true but constant turnover is no good either. I’m for keeping the staff and seeing what a little continuity would do.

Yeah. I'm juggling the same thing. I think the only move I'd make is if Pruitt were to become available because it would be seamless and an obvious upgrade. I think we need to give Sark a few years. He's got a good rep as a QBC and we've got a herd of young ones on campus right now.

For now I will say that I am proud of the way the team fought back in the second half, lots of intestinal fortitude. OTOH, both sides of the ball need serious evaluation in the offseason. We have lost our Alabama identity the last two years.

Here's the reality, folks. Alabama's offense is superb, but football is a 3-phase game. Our defense is sub-par at best and
our special teams is awful. You can't win high-level championships when that is the case. It doesn't matter that we have a QB capable of throwing 400+ yards and 4 TDs on one leg. LSU played great and made the plays to win the game.

It would be quite beneficial, three one loss SEC teams will not help Alabama one bit, also if Alabama's biggest win is against a 4 loss Auburn team that won't help very much.

If this was the BCS I really wouldn't be that worried. I think the polls are going to give Alabama a lot of due respect, but the committee has their own way of doing things. I never agreed with their putting a two loss Auburn in their top 4, but they are going to do what they want. So, if they want to put two Big 10 teams in they will. If they want to put a one loss Pac-12 or Big 12 team in they will. The only thing I can hope for is that their choices are obvious enough that Alabama is the only viable choice.

I don't think there's any real fear of a 2nd B1G team getting in ahead of Alabama. I actually think the biggest risk is going to be the Pac-12. They had Oregon 7 and Utah 8 in the first rankings and both should win out. 11-1 vs. 11-1 both ranked in the 5-6 range feels like it could end up being a play-in game.

Big 12 should cannibalize itself but obviously Oklahoma or Baylor winning out would have a claim too.

There are no such things as moral victories in Tuscaloosa, but there is a moral way we as fans can respond to a tough loss. Sure, there were many missed calls from a crew who couldn't decide if they wanted to be tick-tack or "let 'em play", but fans have a way of getting the magnifying glass out for missed calls that don't go their way while quickly forgetting the ones that do.

LSU is a fantastic team, and we are unevenly very good as well, but our glaring weakness (the middle of the defense) couldn't be masked against their offense. We are starting six true freshmen on defense...six, but the question has to be asked for why the sophomores and juniors ahead of them haven't been developed, and then we have to ask if that lack of development, subpar fundamentals and overall softness that's a far cry from our defenses of the recent past coincides with when the current coordinator took over. But that's a question for January, not now.

I don't think we are one of the four best overall teams, and I think it would be wrong to approach the rest of this season as "playoffs or bust". We've got a chance to finish strong against teams that aren't even close to LSU's offense. We need to remember the days when beating Auburn and going to a good bowl meant everything, and not some hollow consolation. There's still a lot to play for... including a possible Sugar Bowl match-up with Mr. Hurts and the Sooners which could be very special.

Don't ever forget the heroicism of Tua, and I'm glad Najee could have a day like this on the big stage.

Forever RTR.

It was absolutely the WORST defensive effort by an Alabama Football team in 13 years besides last years Championship Game.

I'm not going to get my hopes up or anything. This was our shot and we blew it in the first half. But our best case scenario right now would be...

1. LSU wins out
2. Big 12 champ has 2 losses
3. Oregon wins Pac 12.
4. Auburn beats Georgia
5. We crush Auburn.

So, a lot would probably have to go right

Every bit of that is feasible though.

Ok um ... I just came from tiger droppings and I take back all the nice things I said about LSU. I hope they NEVER win another game against us. Can't post here what coach O was filmed saying in the locker room because it will get me banned, but yeah ... hope they never win another game against us ... ever.

This was live streamed by an LSU player, so I imagine someone will be in trouble. You can hear O saying they are going to beat our you know whats in recruiting, and they're going to beat our you know whats every time they see us. "Roll Tide What" followed by a massive letter that follows E bomb. He's definitely an ogre.

LSU, Ohio State, and Clemson are in. Who is 4th? UGA? Minn? Oklahoma? I can see Oklahoma being ahead of Bama.

I think we want to hope LSU beats UGA because if UGA wins in Atlanta LSU will still make the playoff and Bama will be left out.

Oklahoma will win out. I’m not sure that we do. We will be an underdog on the plains.
