If I seem angry, it’s because I’ve seen too many women dying in childbirth in poor countries, too many children dying of diarrhea, too much leprosy. Gutting the W.H.O. will mean more kids dying of malnutrition, more moms dying of cervical cancer, and the coronavirus infecting more people in more countries — impairing the pandemic response, which may well cost even more American lives. And all because an American president is seeking a scapegoat for his own ineptitude.

At one point I would have disagreed or not said this..
But what makes anyone think that he doesn't secretly want one?
He controls the military, and the folks at the top are sycophants. He has many of the governors in pocket - they control the national guard. Many of the Congress are in hand as well.
While some supporters would abandon him, I think many would join him to "own the libs". The moral majority value voters.

I don't necessarily think he's planning this. But he's got authoritarian tendencies.
What's stopping him? Would anyone?
I don't think it would ever to come down to my Dad or husband taking up arms against me. But a swat team on a group of civilians?

Yes it's taking it too far. Could it happen here? I don't know. But other countries have fallen in the past.

I tried to find a news article to link, but apparently one hasn't been written on this point.
ICYMI - Trump said in last nights press conference that states would be closing their borders to travelers from other states, sometimes groups of states could work together on this. That requirement to enter other states would be a test showing no virus.

Later when reporters were allowed questions, they asked if states would be getting tests to implement this. Again he said that states are responsible for getting their own tests. That all of them have tests and vents and they are having meetings to implement this.

Among the 5 minutes of reading company names, I can see how this info (policy? edict? plan?) got overlooked.

I wonder if he would approve of being removed from office first. Congress can formalize it later.
