2024 WR Perry Thompson commits to Bama

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I will never understand coming on to a rival site just to "stir things up"? I guess I am just a mature adult with better things to do than ro to a rivals website.

I also will never understand why a guy that has never played a college down is this big of a deal. If he does end up signing at auburn, so what? Yella fella just paid him more than we did. It is legal now.
I believe "the trash" has been taken out so this thread is not giving him any pleasure now.

As for your question "who does this?" I think the answer is clear that he doesn't have much of a life if this is how he gets his kicks.

As for the "young fellow" who might've got snookered by "the yella fella" and the "preacha fella...."
it's possible he becomes a star and "an Auburn man" (whatever that is...figure it's a way to feel morally superior to "the Bammers" in their eyes) but if it doesn't work out in a year or two he may be wishing he was lining up opposite Frenchie, Williams and some of our other young talent with Sayin throwing to him in an SEC or NC game.

Ok guys correct me if I'm wrong, but does this scenario with the wr changing his mind eerie to when Bryant retired? Didn't Bo commit to Bama or leaning Bama when a younger Pat Dye got him to Auburn. Look Freeze can coach there's no doubt about that, but are we having a 1982-83 moment? Even our preacher, who is a barner, was bragging about it today smh...Anyway RTR!

Take a look at the Right Reverend’s record at Ole Miss with all that NFL talent. 39-25. He’ll be fired by auburn, but it will probably be due to an off the field issue. At least this time they won’t have to make up the story.

No doubt they are keeping an eye on him and documenting all of his activities while putting it in their back pocket so that they can fire him without any payout...😎

Are you kidding???

Bo wanted to come to Bama but he was told (by a Bama assistant) he might play in two or three years. Dye comes to him and pretty much guarantees him a starting position.

It has nothing to do with a changing of the guard and comparing it to CNS/sleeze is like apples to oranges in that CNS is no where near the end (his own words) in terms of how long he plans to coach.

BTW, if your preacher is making those associations he's gone from preaching to meddling and it might be time to consider another church. 😁

Did PT say it was a “business “ decision?
Not about being the best player and best person he can be?
If so, he went to the right school and he gets nothing from me; if injuries and bad luck should befall him, I’ll just say it’s karma.

The ONLY way they can flip 5-Stars from Uga and Bama is with money. awbern does not offer more in terms of prestige and tradition...🙄

The sample size for Freeze is small but extremely strong. DK Meltcalf and AJ Brown are two of the best receivers in football right now. Treadwell probably would be too if not for a horrific injury setback in college (suffered in a game against Auburn no less). Evan Engram is up there too.

How soon can he get a QB to feed these guys he’s reeling in the ball is the big question.
So, what you are saying is in the six months that Hugh Freeze crossed paths at Ole Miss with Metcalf and Brown he turned them into NFL players? . The two passes each player caught while Hugh Freeze was the Head coach must have been incredible things to watch. No wonder receivers should flock to the barn, to let the good reverend lay his magical hands on their NFL dreams. He Has to undoubtedly be the best coach ever.

Metcalf and Freeze are close. Metcalf is actually actively going to bat for him regarding recruiting.

Just adding to the sleaze, when Metcalf was recruited was The time frame Freeze was accused of allegedly using escort services to entice recruits. its understandable he would go to bat for Sleaze‘s recruiting.

I won't add anymore to this thread that hasn't already been posted. I will just say Thompson family are big Bama fans and sources close to them stated they weren't too thrilled with his choice of school. Ultimately, kids will do what they want and as parents we can only respect their decision. Bama will continue to recruit him because that's what schools do, especially with a good in-state prospect. I'm not too concerned about a flip in July. The season is upon us, results on the field matters , don't let anyone tell you otherwise. All the sales pitch doesn't mean a thing if you can't back it up.

My thoughts exactly. The barnies don't give one ounce of crap what their head coaches do (football, basketball, or whatever) off the field with their private sex lives or what shenanigans they are involved with in recruiting as long as they are winning. And beating Bama one out of every three years. But if they are losing too much and in particular to Bama, then they become holier than though about any non family, non Christian stuff their head men may be doing. They are truly a horrible bunch down there.

Yeah I’d say 2 prime time WRs in a decade of coaching by an offensive coach is small because it is. He’s just not that successful. To argue he’s comparable to Saban or really any of the alphas in CFB is ridiculous.

He just want to have fun.

See, thats the thing.................maturity makes a person refrain from such things..............

No question Freeze is a great offensive mind. I think the jury's still out on his ability as a head coach. His entire rep is built on beating us twice in a row. The first win, in Oxford, I tip my hat. They were just better that day.

The second win, the one in Tuscaloosa, was a miracle. They got five turnovers, at least two of which were fumbled kickoff returns that set them up inside our 30. They got a 2013 Auburn-Georgia type bounced ball off a DB's helmet that ended in a TD. And they got another TD of 70-80 yards or so with the OL that threw the crucial block at least 10 yards downfield. If they don't get every one of those seven breaks, they in all likelihood lose and the Rev's rep isn't what it is now.

Also since then, rules have changed a bit to give the D at least some help against basketball on grass. Freeze might be able to adapt, especially on offense. Whether he can (1) consistently lead a whole team, and (2) keep his sex life on the rails, is yet to be determined.

Offensive coaching ability aside, I do think he's a bad human being -- questionable conduct with girls at Briarcrest Christian high school, documented sexual issues at Ole Miss, then lying about it, hypocritically invoking God and the Bible at every turn. That kind of behavior doesn't usually stop, and almost always leads to a downfall. Sometimes Karma takes a while getting even, but she eventually does.
This, a billion times. To be fair, those mistakes are how you lose games. It takes seven in a game to beat a much more talented team but kids, that's how you lose. Shame it takes something like that to get players to listen to their coaches.

This is who everybody is so worked up about?! Give me a break. The 8th best receiver? Rivals has him as the 13th best. Something tells me Bama will come up with better receiver commits and be o.k.

He's a talented kid and we now probably aren't going to sign either of the 2 instate 5 star receivers. And the staff definitely wanted him. I don't think its ridiculous to be disappointed.

That said we have 2 top 4 WRs of the 2025 class already committed very solidly and sounds like both are recruiting for us. We will be more than fine.

Exactly, i think its ok to be disappointed, But I have seen some bama fans on other boards losing their minds about this. Friend of mine saw a reddit post (and showed it to me) actually saying that it was time for Nick Saban to go.

Thats right guys time, the greatest coach in college football history needs to leave because of two football players that haven't played a single down in college football. (blue font).
