Can’t say for sure but maybe they have a diff style of coaching. The nicer Saban is def a diff saban
My wife just remarked at lunch today “Saban always used to act miserable. He seems a lot happier and more resigned to mistakes than he used to. The guy who always looks miserable now is Kirby.”

is it weird we went from all three qbs getting time in the first game to just Milroe this game? Did he win the job and no one said anything?

Milroe is in his 3rd year in the program. When Hurts was a freshman, he was miles further along as a passer than Milroe is now. Bottom line, Milroe is not a QB.
I was relieved last week based on all of the positives that Milroe received. Now I believe that a good QB coach who watched JM out of high school in 7 on 7 games where he had to throw the football would have come away saying that he is at least several years away from becoming a power 5 QB. While having great speed and athleticism but not the quick feet and ability to throw on the move that is required.

He also threw two touchdowns that were called back because other players made penalties. Milroe isn't perfect by any means. But last night - like most games - was won and lost at the line of scrimmage.
Having a lineman downfield is what’s going to happen when you have a run first, second, third, pass fourth quarterback. Can’t blame the lineman either, that’s just how it goes. You’d be blasting him if he wasn’t downfield blocking, how are they supposed to know what Milroe was planning?

If you’re going to play that game on the touchdown passes, he also missed a wide open Jase for a touchdown and was late to Brooks in the end zone and had to throw a laser that was easily defended. If he throws on time Brooks runs under that ball and it’s a score.

The legs have to be a side dish in modern college football, not the main course. Until that happens with Milroe he will be easily defended by teams with comparable talent.

I think Texas could beat Georgia right now.
You think Georgia would have went the whole game without pressuring the QB like Bama did last night?

With Milroe at QB it’s either the WR’s beating their man deep down the field or bust. He has no short passing game that other teams fear. Any passing game within 10-15 yards Jalen waits until the receivers make their turn and stop before throwing it. With that read it has interception written on it every time.

From an outside prospective

I’ve seen painful times of Georgia wanting to play hard nosed defense and then run the ball majority of time on offense. That is great when your team is ahead.

college football offense nowadays has to be a pass first, run second, style of offense.

I'm disappointed.. that's for sure. I've ridden the highs and I've sunk with the lows. It's still Roll Tide!
With that said, my critique isn't just going to pick on Milroe. Is he a question mark going forward, yes. But, after hearing so much talk about this O-Line and how it's the best we've had in years...blah, blah, blah! They as a group are a giant red flag! I hope they can gel and get it together soon. That type of line play won't win us tough games.
As always, ROLL TIDE!

I’d also like to point out Deion hasn’t done jack except beat 2 bad teams. CU has no depth and will finish up 7-5 and be bowl eligible. If that the standard we are going to hold coaches to now, we are in trouble.
This year's media darling. They will constantly remind us that they beat TCU and Nebraska for the rest of the week

I believe that player development is a real issue for the program. We are getting top 3 recruiting classes year in and out. The players are not progressing the past few years. That is on coaching from the top down.

Where the land meets the sky
If he has mellowed, let's look at history and maybe some lessons learned.

Mad CNS was not able to win with the Dolphins and couldn't motivate paid professionals. He returned to the College game. He brought "Mad CNS" to Alabama and was able to motivate unpaid players up until NIL and the Portal.

Maybe, he figured that he needed to change his demeanor and was about building better relationships with his players, who are now pretty much paid to get a different result than when he was with Miami. Could be.

Ironically, two of his fastest reads and most emphatic throws of the night were straight into double coverages he didn't see. He latched onto his first read and was blind to anything else, including two defenders bracketing his targets.

He probably is lucky to be only at two picks. I counted 5 should be picks.
He threw into coverage more times than I can remember. Enough where I kept saying to my TV, what are you doing? After it had been done repeatedly I just became reserved knowing it was just going to continue. The kid just isn't a QB.

Texas scored about a touchdown more than I thought they would. Ten points were off turnovers. The defense wasn't so much the issue, as was the offense. We should have won 37 to 21. And I think Texas is perfectly capable of scoring 30+ on Georgia.

My best friend that played LB at East Carolina summed it up nicely last night in this text:

“Ya’ll have an athlete trying to play QB instead of a QB trying to play QB. Those things are not necessarily inclusive. You can be great athlete and not be a good QB. Conversely, a good to great QB doesn’t necessarily have to be a great athlete. My big takeaway after watching ya’ll tonight-Milroe looks uncomfortable in the pocket. Like a mouse in a room full of cats. His comfort is in making plays with his legs, not his arm.”
How fitting. He looks like a mouse in a room full of cats. He looked scared out there, or at least, like he just didn't know what to do. Rees can call whatever, if Milroe panics it doesn't matter.
