It doesn’t matter if Saban admits he suspended Milroe. There’s still no logical explanation for Milroe continuing to be the starter moving forward. Either he was benched because he sucks or he was suspended because of his attitude. Either one is enough to move forward with another QB.

Didn't Saban allude to a possible switch in his halftime quickie interview? (I could be wrong.)

Don't you think that it is possible that CNS finally saw enough of Jalen to make him want or at least be willing to make the switch? How could Daboll force CNS? The only leverage I can see him having, would be a threat to cease calling plays if Jalen remained.

This is something I actually know because of someone who was actually there It’s not the pro Saban narrative that everyone that has since tried to push. Daboll had been calling for the change for months and finally that night he had enough. It’s why he left all of the sudden. The 2017 and 2018 staffs and Saban fought constantly and it’s been well documented.

As for the interview… everyone claims it exists however his interview with Rinaldi going into half gave no indication that he was seriously considering it.

The OL has been bad for every QB. It was definitely worse at points vs USF but some (not all) of the sacks were on the QBs, specifically Ty.

I am sorry but I disagree. Especially in this game. A right handed QB being protected by a Left Tackle who doesn't have a clue? Even the RBs whiffed at times. So..the QB is a failure.

To me this is a classic case of Occam's razor.

People on here are coming up with all sorts of explanations about suspensions and team meetings deciding things and whatnot, when the simplest and most logical/least complicated explanation is below:

Saban saw that Milroe played very poorly against Texas, and was going to use the next game against an easy opponent to see what the other qb(s) had in lieu of Milroe. The other qbs played very poorly against a bad team, so due to this he's going back to Milroe.

I don't know why are looking for other explanations. Especially when pretty much all the national media predicted this would happen after the USF debacle anyways.

Thank you. Could not agree more. In fact, had referenced Occam's razor myself in private communications. I do not believe as some have opined that CNS has determined that TS is the better QB, but because of other considerations has chosen JM. (Though I do agree with some that TS's skill set better fits what Alabama wants to do at the QB position but he just does not seem ready to do it. IMO, he would be overmatched vs SEC competition. He had time on some of his sacks and could not pull the trigger.)

It's possible that some more exotic issues are at play, but this is essentially what Saban himself said in his post game interview:

I know you’re going to ask about the quarterbacks, but we’re going to evaluate (them) on how they played today and evaluate Jalen Milroe on how he played (in two starts),” Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said. “We’ll decide this week who gives us the best opportunity to be successful as an offensive team, and that’s the way we’ll go.

IMO, he already knew it would be JM because it was plain to see for many that TB nor TS were ready.

CNS can win every battle because he has the power to play or sit a player. He has chosen not to fight the fight. If those starting don't want to perform then sit them down and let someone play that does. If we are going to lose a game we might as well do it with players that want to be on the field.

but then that player gets mad, transfers does well at another school and runs down Bama every chance he can get. it is to easy these days to run away from responsibilities.

I think they are extremely different. Goodness.. I don't have the best memory but I do not remember this kind of talk back then. Maybe it was because social media hadn't really come about yet. Internet was still in its infancy as a communication medium. Back then it was mostly all radio talk shows. And there was plenty of chatter but obviously so much less than what the Internet provides us today.

And both Zow and Watts were tough dudes. Mentally tough. You couldn't transfer back then like you could now, but Zow stuck it out after fRAN came and got his redemption vs. Auburn in 2001.

I think this is spot on. After the Texas game, most fans wanted to see Buchner and Simpson and I don't think anyone was shocked when they did play. Simpson led two scoring drives and we were able to hang on. It never crossed my mind that there was anything more going on until yesterday when I read this board.

With that said, Saban's comments yesterday regarding Milroe and his starting status were out of character, but we've also never been in a QB struggle quite like this, so it is uncharted territory to some extent.

The question of quarterback is settled…it will be Milroe. My hope is for consistency for Milroe and the team. There needs to be a sea change in attitude and effort if this team has championship aspirations.
