He was put into an impossible situation.Yea from a passing standpoint what he throw was good 123.7 passer rating with coming off the bench is not bad. From a qbr stand point he took too many sacks. That would improve with time tho if he didn’t get killed behind that oline first.
if they go two deep, playing cover 2, i'm running Mills all day. if they go cover three, I'm running smash routes all day. those are the two most basic route tree combos that you can get. if he can not read those two... I don't know what to say.I think playing man with single high safety coverage is what Jalen would like to see most and be best for his game. Again, I don't understand defensive concepts schematics well enough, but it would just we could scheme that better with deep shots than zone with 2 deep safeties cause by the time JM reads the deep ball is not there he's got to come back to a 2nd or 3rd read underneath and we've seen how he struggles with that.
If the old memory bank is working property, Croyle and Pennington both got hurt.i dont know how we got to avalos .. mayb injuries
now we r in this mess even wo injuries
Yep. Avalos was literally the last QB standing. If the old memory bank is working property, Croyle and Pennington both got hurt.
Yeah, I'm just spitballing. It would probably make the most sense like someone said to show man and then back up into zone at he snap and trick him to try to go deep.if they go two deep, playing cover 2, i'm running Mills all day. if they go cover three, I'm running smash routes all day. those are the two most basic route tree combos that you can get. if he can not read those two... I'm sorry I even brought it up. It's a bad memory that should never have resurfaced except Saturday was a trigger event! If the old memory bank is working property, Croyle and Pennington both got hurt.
5 of 15 for 18 yards with one pick. I don’t think folks remember just how bad it could beYep. Avalos was literally the last QB standing.
I don't know anything about playing qb, or teaching how to play qb, or calling plays but... If I were OC I'd have a check down for every pass. I'd tell him to read the primary and if that wasn't open to hit the check down. If the check down isn't open he needs to make like Forrest Gump and run.Yeah, I'm just spitballing. It would probably make the most sense like someone said to show man and then back up into zone at he snap and trick him to try to go deep.
What I fear the most is JM trying to throw short, to mid range routes for 1st downs on 3rd and long.
We stay ahead of the chains, we'll be OK. Get into 3rd and long and they'll disguise coverages and we are toast.
I could have happily gone the rest of my life without being reminded of that debacle... ðŸ˜â€I'm sorry I even brought it up. It's a bad memory that should never have resurfaced except Saturday was a trigger event!

I never would have guessed he threw 15 passes that game. In my head, I remember us running the ball basically every play. Crazy.5 of 15 for 18 yards with one pick. I don’t think folks remember just how bad it could be
That was 2003, and then the next year, again Pennington and Brodie were both injured and we had to go with Marc Guillon. He was better than Avalos, but that sure wasn't saying much at alli dont know how we got to avalos .. mayb injuries
now we r in this mess even wo injuries
That's what I remember as well. The playbook was reduced to like 6 plays.I never would have guessed he threw 15 passes that game. In my head, I remember us running the ball basically every play. Crazy.
And wasn't Avalos Rodney Orr's stepson? I have no idea how I remember reading that.Well, after Buchner's performance Saturday, regardless of the rumors, Avalos can sleep easy now that he will no longer be referenced as "the worst QB play in Bama history", LOL! HE'S BEEN SET FREE!!!! LOL!

You've blocked out that painful time eh?I could have happily gone the rest of my life without being reminded of that debacle... ðŸ˜â€
Yes, I'm almost positive that you're correct! And wasn't Avalos Rodney Orr's stepson? I have no idea how I remember reading that.
