Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. Michigan...

The two biggest plays imo were the fumble and how bad the 4th and 2 hurt us on michigans last drive.

Milroe played okay, but there is some legitimate blame for our offensive ineffectiveness that goes towards him. However I would say the lines getting whipped on both sides were probably the biggest contributing factors to the loss. But Washington and Texas are proving a confident quarterback that makes quick decisions can alleviate short comings by struggling lines.

I think if Milroe is the guy next year then we need to design an offense around him in the offseason or he has to get better reading defenses.
For sure. Agreed. I'm not saying Milroe is blameless. Not even saying he should definitely have the job. But the doom and gloom stuff is a bit much.

I thought we all agreed earlier this season this isn't the same dynasty Bama. It is what it is and we'll probably be pretty good and have a shot next year.

Can we stop with this UGA is the best team in the country? Bama exposed their weaknesses and beat them straight up in a defacto playoff game. Was UGA very good? Yes. A top 5 team. But, not better than Bama. Results speak for themselves.

Alabama barely beat a team missing their two best receivers.

I'm sorry but if Alabama gets to use that excuse in 2021, so does Georgia in 2023.

But hey....no 3-peat, no greatest team of all-time, no Kirby taught Nick all he knows. Just the reality they have to feel the same hard gut kick we do.

Our defense held them all 2nd half I'm not blaming them at all. Sure it'd be great if they got that last stop but probably shouldn't have come down to that
Amen!
We were up 7 with 4 minutes left. But at that time, Michigan had only scored 13 points! How in the hell were only up 7 points when the d had held Michigan to 13 points? It should have never come down to that drive if the offense had done their job the way the defense had done theirs.

You have to wonder how much Milroe went off script during the season. I think alot of the time the staff just didnt know what he was going to do with the ball.

You had to think it was karma that lost on a botched 4th down play after the 4&31...

Yes and no. It was 100% a team loss. But Milroe is the most visible guy as the QB and his season-long deficiencies came up pretty big in this game. For example, after Michigan tied it, we just had to drive down into FG range. We are doing ok, then he takes 2 low percentage deep throws, which Michigan was absolutely playing prevent against, and suddenly we are staring at 3rd and long and have to punt. Guys were open underneath but he goes for the home run. Historically we have dinked and dunked down the field with sideline throws to stop the clock, but he just isn’t the QB who can consistently make those throws. It is what it is.

Ok after digging into the stats I'm scratching my head even more on the total Def collapse at the end of the game. I just assumed they were worn out by our lack of an effective Offense until I saw this... Bama 65 plays 32:19 TOP, Michigan 60 plays 27:41 TOP. Really disappointing...
The fumble. Full stop.

Is there a stat that shows which ones were on Milroe and which ones were the OL or a RB missing a block? I'm sure not going back and watching hours of sack video for the answer.

I'll prob go back and watch, but at least 2 were JM not getting the ball out on time. Another 2, maybe 3, were not re-setting the protection correctly - that's partly on JM and partly on the OL because some were with the playclock being to low to make adjustments (that's on JM) and I think one we just didn't make the call. other one (or the maybe) was the OL not fanning correctly - that's on the OTs.

My greatest concern - that Milroe thinks that he has arrived. He will be the starter next year. And if he doesn't work his rear off to improve in the off season, it will cost Alabama another season.

He will be listed as a Heisman favorite to start the season, and Alabama will be highly ranked. That spells disaster unless he and the team see just how poorly they played this year.

Im trying not to pile on him but there seems like there is a degree of arrogance with confidence in how he approaches things. I think at some point you need to tune out your doubters and stop the constant “I told you so” campaign.

I’m shocked at where we are and happy to not have to hear UGA anymore this year. He has alot to be happy about but if he truly wants to make it to the nc or the nfl then he has to see that there are serious flaws in his game that can be improved on.

Well boys, how many we losing to the transfer portal after tonight?
I gotta believe that we‘ve got receivers who are tired of being wide open, jumping up and down waving their arms, and not getting the ball. Trying to show out with a QB who can’t see the field is gonna make you look hard at the portal, trying to find a Mac, Tua, or Bryce who can get you the ball. Sayin grabbing the job is unlikely, so you’re signing up for another year of frustration.
