Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. Michigan...

Was a great season. We’ll get em next year.Roll Tide!
I doubt if Michigan will be there next year. I’m guessing they have a team full of 3-star fifth year seniors (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing).

I may get flamed for this, but I think we must've spent most of the 2.5 weeks prior preparing for Texas.

We looked like we had a vanilla game plan that would typically beat a B1G team. IRONically, it's the same thing we did in the IRON bowl. Did we actually think UM was worse than the Barn???

I think we weren't ready/prepared to play this game because we thought we had it won.

I don't know if we thought we had it won, but we definitely came out with a terrible offensive game plan. All of things we had been doing to win the last several games - shorter passes, dumps to the RB's, and taking what the defense gives - were non-existent last night. (plus blocking in the first half). This just kills me because it's a game we should have won, but killed ourselves.

we didn't do any of that taking what the defense gives, even in the last part of the season. Milroe was never making reads or decisions around what the D gave us, we just occasionally had situations where CTR called a play that made it look that way. Also, UM knew we were unlikely to have any scripted success in the short passing game (we have not all year) so they didn't even really defend that, nor did they need to

I think we just got beat at the LOS in the First half so bad that the Defense was worn by last 5 minutes of the game. On offense, the same. I mean, I don't think there is any offensive strategy, play, scheme, etc ... that can withstand that rush up the gut coupled with no blocking, injured players, and poor center snaps.

Be the coach. Why did Michigan pressure so much? And why did they get away with it?

Michigan felt Milroe couldn't hurt them when they brought pressure packages. At least the percentages were in there favor. Pressure made the OL look worse than they are. As far as snapping, I saw Penix having to pull in some also. He performed pretty well.

For any of the Michigan fans who joined here and the last couple weeks and any lurkers, just wanted to say congrats. That was a solid win. I think it could have gone either way but the Wolverines made the plays when it really counted and Alabama didn’t. Y'all played sound and disciplined football most of the game which is something we have struggled with for a few seasons now. I won’t be pulling for y’all in the title game but good win and good season for your team.

Well, I would have liked to have seen BAMA play Washington, but that's not going to happen. I'm pulling for the Huskies, but I'm not sure their defense can stand up to Michigan's rushing attack. On the other hand, I'm sure Washington will look at our game vs Michigan and be ready for all of the blitz and pressure stuff. Can Michigan stand up to a QB that can move around, and still make the plays. Should be an interesting game, but I'm still aggravated that we're not in it. At 66 years old, you'd think I would know better. Too much crimson in the blood.

I really want to feel this way but I'm struggling. You know, people like Rich Eisen, I'd love to feel happy for that guy. After what was revealed with the signal stealing, I just can't feel happy for Michigan in any way.

Respect for how they played yesterday, yes. But if there were any real justice, they would not have even been there. And in this perverse world we now live in, you have the perpetrator of a crime transition himself into a victim and so we've had to hear how "the world was against Michigan" for 2 months. I'm sickened by all that.

And the real crime here is that after yesterday it is pretty clear they did not need the cheating to help them. Nothing will be done about any of this. It has already been swept under a rug. It is what it is.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this but did anyone listen to Saban's interview at halftime before going into the locker room? I was completely shocked because it sounded like he was defeated already and I was telling my wife and friends that this is incredibly concerning.

i don't think coach was defeated. we played pretty well coming out of the half until about 4-5 minutes left

Can’t find link but Stephen A Smith went off on him on Finebaum. Rightfully so, and I’m no Smith fan.
My football watchin' buddy, who does not even follow college football closely, asked, "If this has been going on all year, why hasn't Coach Saban fixed it?"
Inquiring minds want to know.
If a center has a rash of bad snaps in one game, the position coach pulls him aside and says, "What's going on? You cannot do this. It screws everything else up. Get it together."
If it happens again, the position coach says, "The problem is a disqualifier for your position. It simply cannot happen. Fix it, or we go to center #2."
If it continues, the head coach pulls the position coach aside, and says, "There are few zero-defect aspects of the game, but this is one of them. Fix this or you're fired."

Got a chance to talk to all of my Michigan friends today. Yeah, every one of them reached out to me. They all know how much my wife and I love Alabama. None rubbed it in. Every one of them piled on praise for Alabama's defense, punter and kicker. They feel lucky to get the win and move on, especially given how Alabama shut them out for almost 3 straight quarters.

that was a very hard fought, somewhat sloppy game between two tough teams.
